A - Pours a hazy golden brass with a 2 finger rocky white head that has superior retention. Big sheets of lacing. S - Soapy herbal hops, white grapes, green apple, treated wood, lavender, pale malt. T - Sweet oaky lavender, green herbal resin, vanilla, spicy floral with a yeasty peppery bite. A dry treated oak finish. M - Medium creamy body. Excellent head retention. This taste like slightly hoped pinot grigio aged in gin barrels. I like that it’s different but one is plenty. It definitely has that super dry gin feeling towards the end. Lightly hazed dark golden liquid. Modest sized off-white head. Heavy cedar/pine sap scents. Cedar dominates the flavors. Some pale malt and honey in the finish. Just not well defined. Cedar dominates and distracts rather that adding complexity. 7/11

Draft from notes. Pours a slightly hazy yellow golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have pale toasted malts, juniper, herbal notes, some floral character, resin, mostly the nose as the flavor was thin and watery, just not much to get excited about.

oldrtybastrd (5228) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - APR 14, 2016
Pours a light amber color. Aromas of tart, bitter juniper with hints of veggies and malts. Flavor has a nice piney juniper bite to it, with a mellow malty flavor with a nice hoppy dry finish.

Petkus331 (389) - Redford, Michigan, USA - APR 8, 2016
Aroma of peach, pineapple, passionfruit, white pepper, a touch of caramel, fermenting crab apple. Appears foggy gold. Tastes mildly sweet up front and is perfectly balanced with gentle oaky tannins, there is an acidic background of mild juicy sourness that lightens it up. Palate is a bit watery but has a little fizz. Overall, very good, tastes like a Saison, very good.

Old rating. Off beat. Mild citrus, very herbal, oak, get the gin and juniper plenty, but still has the pale my base. All over and not especially drinkable but kind of fun.

"what a surprise. when my budy said he had John John, i thought it was the barreled Dead Guy. little did i know there was also this gin barreled pale ale version (as well as a rum barreled hazelnut brown i’d love to try). i confirmed just yesterday i’m not a big fan of the juniper pale (the base for this) but i’m a big fan of both of rogue’s gins, and this beer better reflects the gin than the beer. very unique, spicy, smooth, floral, and delicious, especially as it warms. 34 ibu, 5.2% abv."

Rated from notes taken 10 Aug 2011 -- On tap. Very interesting. Distinct Strong Juniper Flavor on the back end. Not quaffable, but a very pleasant "off-beat" ale.

Bottle. Pours a hazy copper color with a huge thick white head on it. Nose has some juniper to the nose, with a little bit of pine coming through. Taste has a fair amount of tartness to it, and has a slight bit of booziness. Tastes a lot like a gin martini...

nimbleprop (8949) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - MAY 2, 2014
16oz pour at Bardo DC. Pours a lightly hazy saffron gold with some thin white head. Nose has a lot of spice and herb, citrus, yeast, mild malt. Flavor had plenty of orange, mild malt, herbal, a little root veg, some rusty metal. Clean finish.

Fruity Aroma, some berry and gin too. Apples, pear, oak, chardonnay. Golden-Light orange color. Taste us less pungent than aroma, but pleasant. About to have a dinner of mahimahi and Lima beans and i’m anticipating a good match. (Is that too close to "silence of the lambs" to be be creepy?) Very nice. A touch sour on the aftertaste, but a well crafted beer. Yea Rogue.
