This is a little dark for an IPA. A medium reddish brown, extremely cloudy and you can see the sediment. Bitter hops, but little citrus or piney sappiness. Nice heavy malt. Thick body for an IPA. Shadallion (534) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 18, 2002
A rough and tumble hop barbarian, so big and huge that it’s more like a baby Bigfoot than an IPA. Big prickly hops throughout, not much malt showing through. Almost syrupy body. Challenging, even for a hophead. joet (2604) - Wilsonville, Oregon, USA - MAY 17, 2002
Totally hopped up, resinous as hell, piney, cascade power with juniper spikes, all front little back like a Barbie twin, some Eisbier like alcohol flashes. Challenging and crazy. erway (1004) - Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - FEB 27, 2002
Interesting. Not much Chritmassy about it but good. Extremely bitter, much more so than the brutal bitter, with not enough malts to back it up. ttboy8099 (73) - Corvallis, Oregon, USA - FEB 18, 2002
Very Impressed, Looked very dark, but went down extremely smooth. Highly impressed. One of rogues best.

This is a true beer for all to endulge into. I recently visted the Rogue brewrey in Newport, OR and tryed many they had to offer, this is certainly top 3 from Rogue. legion242 (2348) - Richardson, Texas, USA - FEB 13, 2002
Ruby color; Great head; HUGE HOPS in the nose. The hoppiest ever? You can smell this from across the room. No balance at all, just hops and hops and more hops. Oily, and yummy. Bites you hard on the sides of the mouth.
