MaiBockAddict (1497) - Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA - MAY 27, 2005
22 oz bomber. Very dark brown, thick tan head, decent lacing. Roasty chocolate hoppy aroma. Thick malty hoppy carmel chocolate citrus flavor. Dry malty hoppy finish. Good extraction on this one. Can really taste those hops. Yummy.

Bottle. Deep dark brown in color with a nice tan fluffy head. Malty aroma. Roasty, chocolate aroma. Malty flavor. Caramel notes. Very roasty. Full bodied. Complex tasting. Coffee like. Sweet. Creamy. Enjoyable.

Apellonious (53) - USA - MAY 25, 2005
Pours dark brown/ruby color with a tan head that quickly dissappates. Aroma a burnt roasted choco- coffee smell, and something else that I cant quite place. Decently carbonated, moderately flavorful, can be sweet at times, others times complex, sometimes simple. kind of like a women. Decent brew from Rogue.

leaparsons (10657) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAY 24, 2005
Bottle. Black with a bubbly beige head. Aromas are sweet roast malts, floral hops with coffee and chocolate, earthy and dry. Flavours are earthy roast coffee malrs with sweet pine hops. Has hints of licourice and chocolate. Quite dry and bitter on the finish. Pretty decent.

Mungo (2470) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - MAY 23, 2005
Bottle. Good initial aroma of light fruity chocolate and deeply roasted coffee. After a while the roasted components tend towards charred with a touch of smokiness. Smooth and sweet at the start with caramel and roast components. Body thins out as you drink. A beer of two halves - starts out well but ends not not so well

GarethYoung (1111) - Glasgow, SCOTLAND - MAY 22, 2005
[bottle from sainsburys] nose is roasted coffee with a little chocolate and the slightest suggestion of fruits follows. decent body with a bitter hopped finish.

cfranz (261) - Acton, Massachusetts, USA - MAY 22, 2005
Nice and black with a khaki head. Malted and toasted. It’s got very good body and is creamy. Darn good porter.

OhioDad (2492) - Hilliard, Ohio, USA - MAY 20, 2005
Pours dark brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is mostly roasted malt but just a touch of hops. Flavor is roasted malt and a touch of bitterness at the end. More coffee like. Less sweet than other porters that I’ve tasted. Not bad. I could drink this more. On the palate it is full bodied and creamy as a porter should be. Good stuff

Joeh (2049) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAY 19, 2005
Bottle from Sainsburys. Pours very dark with a fine tan head. The aroma is subdued with some roasted malt, hop and alcohol. The flavour, however, is not subdued and leaps out at you with a barrage of roasted malt, and a suprisingly aromatic, citric hop character and biting bitterness. Some sweetness and somewhat meaty with huge notes of coffee as well as fruit. Very refreshing and very good.

scraff (2121) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAY 16, 2005
Black, soft tan creamy head. The nose held notes of toast, caramel, dusty cocoa, and milk chocolate, with lesser tones of mild coffee and oatmeal. Chocolate cream, toast, and mocha- like flavors are up front with lots of citric hop bitterness showing up to maintain nice balance. Medium bodied, light carbonation, bittersweet finish. A very nice session porter...
