Very dark brown in colour with an off white head. Slightly vinous aroma, along with roasted grains and bakers chocolate. The Rogue "house style" is very apparent in the flavor: signature yeast and munich malty. Theres some of the mocha chocolate thing going on in the flavor, but not as much as youd expect from something named "mocha porter". Quite hoppy as well. A nice brew.

I also didnt have a pleasant experience with this brew. Very little aroma to speak of , thick texture, light chocolate mocha taste you really had to search for it. Roasted malt aftertaste gets a little fuller as it warms, but still flacid for a porter. Pass

To me not a very good beer at all. Im very suprised at the great rating that this beer is getting. One of the worst beers Ive tried ever.

This pours a dark brown color with a reddish hue when held up to the light. A good-sized brown head formed and faded away slowly leaving a lacing around the glass. The aroma is thick with roasted coffee coming to the front and chocolate. The hops make themselves known as well but to a lesser degree. Tastes of smoky roasted malts with a heavier chocolate flavor as opposed to mocha or coffee. It has a pleasantly bitter aftertaste to balance out any sweetness. This is a very smooth and drinkable brew. Mouthfeel is good and with some of the other qualities it could be confused with a stout. This is pretty much another good beer from rogue.

Deep, dark brown body with a nice tan head. Aroma of chocolate infused coffee with some notes of the citrus hops. Medium bodied, smooth and creamy. The flavor was roasted malts, coffee/chocolate, with a blend of bitterness and sweetness and is passed over the tongue. Good stuff.

Excellent porter. 66cl bottle from onlyfinebeer. Very dark red brown. Persistant brown head. Aroma of Coffee, roasted malt and chocolate predominantly. Medium to full bodied. Good roasted and bitter finish. Yum.

Impressive aroma but the taste failed to deliver. Aroma was heavy on coffee with underlayer of chocolate and a hint of vanilla. A little heavy on the hops, couldve been better balanced. Bitterness was heavier than I expected but not overbearing.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2004 June, 2003: Bottle. Aggressively bitter. Does have a little of the wine quality that porters should have, but comes over more as a dry stout. A little more depth and complexity than the other Rogues Ive tried, but on the whole quite crude. [3.0]
Dec, 2004: Part of the <a href=Beer-Ratings.asp?BeerID=55&FanOfID=4383>St Stew Off. BBE Jan 04. Abv 5.3% Staleness really showing with cardboard aromas. Bitterness slightly muted, but still present. Dry, roasty, some sweet creamy notes, coffee and chocolate. Much heavier than the Guinness, but a good match up for the Titanic and the F.E.S. Pulls way above its weight, and does come over as just a bit too thick and heavy as though the brewers have put just a bit too much into this. Sometimes less is more. [2.8]

Sweet, perfumey, chocolate, mocha nose. Opaque brown-black with thin, dense, tan head. Roasty, bitter coffee-grounds flavour with very little chocolate to be found. Lightly vinous and some mild fruitiness. Medium body. Strong, lasting, chalky bitterness. Bottle sampled with CapFlu and Lubiere. Thanks, beerhugger. Yay, leftovers!
