Cask gravity @ GBBF 2007, London. Dark black color with a small, creamy, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, strong coffee, mocca, cacao, vanilla. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily / creamy, carbonation is flat. (090807)

12 fl oz bottle. Pours pitch black with a creamy, rocky and slowly collapsing tan head. Aroma is smooth coffee, chocolate and light floral to fruity hoppy. Bitter and light fruity flavoured. Distinct roasted malt flavoured, chocolate and coffee herbal and slight acidic flavour swept through. Nice full malt flavoured finish with a lingering roasted note and good hops fruit and bitter flavour counterbalance.

This beer has a great aroma of coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts. The color is black with a red glow and a fine brown head. The flavor is thin in the beginning, but then You are hit by: malt, roasted bread, chocolate, wood, and coffee bitterness. A lovely flavor except for the weak start.

Bottled. Clear brown coloured with a medium sized beige head. Roasted aroma of coffee with notes of liquorice and chocolate. Roasted flavour with notes of coffee, liquorice, chocolate and hops. Well balanced.

Bottle. Pours a black colour into the glass. Tan head that leaves a lace on the rim. Has a roasted aroma and hints of coffee. The taste is full of coffee, chocolate and hints of licourice. The aftertaste is roasted and a bit bitter, very nice.

22nd October 2008. Opaque black beer with just a thin tan head. Smooth and slightly sour/tangy porter. Nicely put together this beer, a little milk chocolate in the mid with a well balanced bitterish coffee undertone that dominates the finish. Very drinkable.

Tap at Birreria Paradiso in Georgetown. Reddish brown color, tan head. Aroma of prunes and cocoa. Taste is dried fruit, cocoa, burnt espresso, slight bitter finish. Very nice.

First rating 2002-02-25: Brown-black. Coffee and grape aroma. Bitter, but a bit on the thin side. At least that is what I have written in my notes, but after reading others note on this I guess I should get back and re-rate it. (7/10 5/10 3/5 4/5 11/20)
Re-rate 2002-10-25: Funny, I'd all forgotten this rating, but came to nearly exactly the same conclusion. Almost black with rich head. Light coffee nose. Some crystal malt profile. Rather sweet.
