Pours dark brown. Mild very pleasant chocolate aroma. Larger bubblesdissipates quickly. Biting bitterness on the finish. Think my cold is effecting judgment. Doesnt seem a complex a Sam Smilth of Fullers. Claims to be refreshingly light which seems to be true. A little too biter on the finish, but overall very enjoyable.

330ml bottle at the Head of Steam, Durham. Dark in colour, pours with a thin off-white head. Aroma of black olives and dark chocolate. Burnt coffee, chocolate, and black pepper make up most of the flavour. Readily drinkable, with a smooth and pleasant texture.

Ciemno brązowe piwo ze skromną beżową pianą. W zapachu przede wszystkim kawa i suszone owoce. W smaku czuć kawę, nuty palone, suszone owoce. Bardzo delikatna goryczka, piwo jest rwnież lekko słodkie, co sprawia, że jest przyjemne i bardzo pijalne.

Poured very dark, almost black, with a distinct creamy head which lasted well down the glass. Aroma and taste was of toasted coffee (!) with a lingering but not at all unpleasant bitterness. An altogether well rounded and very drinkable beer.

Beer pours (in Chimay glass) a dark black liquid that light can not penetrate with a small, light caramel colored head that dissipates quickly to near nothing. Aroma is of... what else do you expect from Rogue - the stench of hops. Hops overpowers any other aroma. Flavor is of overpowering hops, and little else. No other flavor can be detected even after careful consideration. This one's as bad as Rogue Chocolate Stout - a definite drainpour. From my somewhat limited experience with Rogue beers, they all smell and taste nearly identical. I believe I've now gone through all the Rogue beers I care to. There's nothing to enjoy with this brew, unless you're a hop head. HOP ON, bunny wabbits, otherwise, pass on this one. Sampled at 74 degrees Fahrenheit.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2006 Dark coffee brown, with a small brown head that diminishes quickly. Roasted coffee malt nose. Medium body, fairly thin and insubstantial mouthfeel. Finish and follow provide the most interest, initial chocolate and coffee followed by rising roastiness. Quite drinkable, if unextraordinary.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2004 Better and better each time I have it, this is everything I want in a porter. Ultra dark with a white head, thick mouthfeel, more like a stout really. Super hoppy, super bitter, lots of coffee and chocolate. One of the best.

UPDATED: MAR 23, 2005 I really like this beer. It has a rich deep flavor without an overpowering hoppiness on the palate. The aftertaste has a lingering flavor of dark cocoa.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Opaque black body with a lovely beige head that laces the glass till the end. Notes of coffee and floral, citrusy hops in the aroma. Tastes of caramel sweetness and dark, dark chocolate with a strong bitterness in the finish. A nice hoppy porter.

Dark brown colour with a tan head. Mocha Porter has a nicely carbonated body that feels slightly thin and watery. Overall, the taste was somewhat dry and bursting at the seems with roasted coffee flavors. Above average bitterness for a porter and not quite as sweet as most. Good, but not quite what I was looking for.
