OK, it is refreshing, but if you are searching for a style category, you will be disoriented. It is a little hoppy and thin for a hefeweized. There is a certain funkiness (maybe the Pacman yeast) to the nose as well. Oddly enough, the towering head is rather bitter. Here is where you will find the rose petal. Take a big gulp of the head and see for yourself! The color is good and a little cloudy. The nose is a little weak for a wheat beer, especially a hefewiezen. But it’s not terrible. The taste is mildly sweet with a rather grainy dry finish. Body is light and bubbly. The bottle I had was a bomber. The large bottle prohibited a single pour to add the yeast to the pour. This left the first serving light and the second serving heavy. Lots of floaties in the sediment. The beer improved after the addition of the sediment, too. More body, silkiness but overall still a little rough. It’s an interesting beer, but I think they are trying to do a little too much with a style that is better when brewed right up the middle. Every beer does not have to be a home run. A one-run single is pretty good and accomplishes the same thing. Try to brew a hefeweizen that rival Sierra Nevada’s or one of the better German hefe’s. We all would applaud that.

krumbum (1109) - truckee, California, USA - MAY 16, 2014
Pearlesent yellow with a ring of white head. Smells like a wet basement with a bouquet of roses in the corner. A sour dough scent that gets a little floral wet rose. Fades a little banana wheatish.

Slight floral essence to what is a weak kristallweizen. I expected better from Rogue...

Floral aroma with an orange acidity. Pours cloudy yellow with white head. Looks of a traditional hefe. Starts with citrus and mild banana subtle floral taste and sugar balance well in the middle. Finishes a bit sour.

Bomber. Light gold with a white head. Floral and bile aromas (like the smell that hits your face while yacking in a toilet bowl). After all that, it tastes pretty great.

I had this at Flying Saucer. Pour yellow with a white head. Taste sweet, floral, wheat. I thought this was good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is a sweet floral fragrance. Taste is grassy hoppiness with a light malt character. Finishes with a smooth bitterness and light rose peddle notes that are pretty pale. Body is a very clear light yellow body.

22oz bottle, purchased from Whole Foods, shared with locals. Mostly clear golden orange color. Pours with a big, slightly off-white head. Medium body. Smooth, soft lighter carbonation. Dry texture. Moderate sweet taste. Hint of tart. Light lemon, hint of floral rose but not much of the rose in the flavor. Some acidic that I don’t really appreciate. Not a great hefeweizen, not a fan of this. Texture is a bit too soft and ultra dry. Would appreciate a little more fullness.
