Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Pours a amber brown color with a big head. Caramel, almond, prune, fig and cinnamon on the nose. Spice and fruit flavors really stand out as it comes to room temperature. Long bitter finish with a bit of pepper present as well. A little astringent but not overly so. alexsdad06 (10268) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 12, 2014
Bottle from old backlog notes. Pours a hazy brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel and chocolate malts, herbal notes that bring up tea, some fruity character, strange that there isn’t much Belgian character. strongpieman (1651) - Mount Airy, Maryland, USA - DEC 21, 2013
Draft. Complex sweet malty beer, body is a little thin with some sharp notes. Light head, clear, amber colored. Not my favorite from Rogue. reebtogi (6235) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 18, 2012
650ml bottle pours an amber brown color with a 2 finger white head that settles down to some nice lacing. Aroma is caramel malty sweet with a nice blend of hops. Taste is quite bitter with some mellowing from the grainy malts. Medium bodied with adequate carbonation. Full flavored ale that is very refreshing and easy to drink despite the high ABV. oldrtybastrd (5002) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - APR 8, 2010
Pours a bright golden amber color. Aromas of hops, fruit, and a little yeast. Has a light lemony taste, with some yeasty notes, and a good hop flavor.

2007: 22oz bottle...
Colossal ice cream float had. Deep, hazy dark red. Lots of carbonation, and a massive icy lace.
A very pungent malty (almost Belgian) smell. Spicy but very dark and very nutty.
Heavy roasted malt. Quite a sour accent. Hops are there but in the background. Has a sweet/sour mix of toffee. There is a taffy/caramel element. A bit much. Strong.
Thick and creamy but bubbly. Stays on the tongue long after. Really thick. Formidable. It tastes good but is very strong. Both sweet and pungent. DialSquare (4978) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - DEC 31, 2009
From an old note: bottle. orange-brown pour with large white head. dark fruit and molasses in the aroma. tangy, sweet and bitter with caramel and pine. long bitter finish. need to try again sometime. jimhilt (2609) - Bow, New Hampshire, USA - OCT 18, 2009
Pours a two finger cream head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Cloudy amber/brown color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Caramel nose. Flavor is some caramel sweetness but mostly a hoppy wood. Lingering hoppy aftertaste. $6.49 for a 22oz bottle from Manchester Wine and Liquors Manchester, CT. thedm (6143) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - AUG 29, 2009
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a hazy with fine particulate softly carbonated and a fair lacing. The smooth aroma was brown malt and dark malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a biting aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of mild hops dark malt and brown malt. A decent one that I would consider buying again. drowland (8629) - Georgia, USA - AUG 17, 2009
Had this awhile back. Not what I was expecting, but pretty nice... sweet start with a nice hoppy finish.
