At brewery. Very sweet with light barrel flavors. Nose is molasses and not very complex. Boring brew dominated by the yeast. b3shine (9257) - Indiana, USA - JAN 2, 2018
Draft to taster at The Pint Room. Looks good; a lightly translucent dark brownish cola with beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells good too; a nice balance of dark malt, dark chocolate, oak, and vanilla. Tastes like it smells, but spicier and boozier. Mouthfeel is full-bodied, mildly to moderately bitter, and warming. An enjoyable sipper, but smells better and more balanced than it tastes. Turin (2) - - OCT 20, 2017 does not count
UPDATED: OCT 20, 2017 On tap at Pivbar 3 in Moscow. Great aroma but nothing new for an imperial stout. A lot of spices in taste and density is suprisingly not too high. Overall, a very good imp. stout which fails to amaze but leaves you with deep satisfaction.
p.s. I highly recommend letting it to warm up a little. reebtogi (6403) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - AUG 16, 2017
1L swing-top bottle pours black in color with a finger of light tan head that leaves only a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is light roasted grains with chocolate, vanilla and hints of whiskey. Taste is a big chocolate malty sweetness with a light roasted grain bitterness finishing with some vanilla and alcohol. Full bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, not quite as complex as I was expecting, but still a tasty stout that is worth checking out. djd07 (16289) - Houston, Texas, USA - JUN 4, 2017

Despite its extensive ingredient list, Rolling Thunder ends up tasting like a cohesive, decadent beer. Thick, pitch black slow pour. Smoke, soy, charred sugar, and blacked grain aromatics. Dark chocolate, coffee, whiskey, oak, bourbon-like cherry, burnt sugar, tobacco, and just a bit of boozy vanilla. Syrupy, almost chewy, body. Moderately bitter. A big, tasty malt bomb. A- Whisky, malt, subtle char, slight cocoa.
A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, tan head.
T- Whiskey, tobacco, oak, char.
P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, smooth finish.
O- A fair amount of detectable whisky but remained balanced without being too boozy. Some roasted and charred notes of leather and oak. Pretty good. DocLock (11189) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 3, 2017
Flip top, squat, shitterpricker bottle, 1L, resembling the old East End bottles, via PUB’R. Pours hazy blackish brown with tan head. Nose is dark malt, mild rauch, hops, prunes. Tastes malty, sweet, with molasses notes, some nuts, brown sugar. Not as complex as the greats, and not great. furthur (1255) - Eagle River, Alaska, USA - JAN 18, 2017
Bottle, cellared about 10 mo.? Black beer, big, almond colored head faded to a skiff. Aroma is fresh bread, molasses, brown sugar, vanilla, cookies, chocolate, coffee. Taste is vanilla, molasses, soy sauce, brown sugar, chocolate, coffee, whiskey, and a faint backbone of oak. Palate is smooth, fairly thick, but not syrupy, carbonation moderate. This is a classic whiskey barrel aged imperial stout, pair it with starry sub-zero nights and Jackie Chan movies.
