Rogues Shakespeare Stout is ebony in color, a rich creamy head and a mellow chocolate aftertaste. It is made from Northwest Harrington, Crystal, and Chocolate malts, roasted barley and rolled oats, along with Cascade hop.

Easily could be considered a "hop heads" stout, this beer makes a statement from the moment it's poured. The beer is thick and oily with a dark brown head. Light coffee and chocolate aromas are masked by the Cascade hops. Body was exceptionally light for the style with moderate carbonation. It was not rich or creamy, instead it was simply pleasing. The finish was only modestly dry with a bitter finish that diminished quickly. It is a shame that there were no other flavors to describe. The hop bitterness and aroma was too great. A true disappointment.

jet black. had this on cask at fatheads in pittsburgh. very delicious and inoffensive beer could win over most 'only guiness' types. very rich and roasty. earns respect gracefully rather than beating it out of you

I guess it is not a good idea drinking it after the Rogue Chocolate Stout - as the flavors are couldn"t be as intense as in the Choco Stout, but that's how it was served: Weak nose with candis and chocolate. Opaque with a little layer of a head. Espresso, nearly mocca and chocolate taste / but not as good.

Nice stout appearance with a dark tan head. Dry, roasted malts with good chocolate/coffee notes. Wow, complex on that side with a decent hop bite to balance it out. A very solid offering. Not really a statement beer though; more restrained and a somewhat strange finish.

Wow! Poured black as night. Not much of a head, but enough to seal in the flavor. The second pour into my glass (big bottle) had more head which left a beautiful lace behind. The taste was amazing for a Stout. Not too bitter. Lots of body and *very* complex. Chocolate and coffee hints abound, as do the wonderful Cascade hops. This is one of the few Stouts I could drink anytime.

I love Rogue's beer and this has proven to be no exception...heavy roasted flavor...Very nicely put together

Black, with a big brown head. Roasty, acid nose, whiffs of licorice and chocolate. Quite bitter, with an underlying smokiness. Dry but with a nice smooth mouthfeel. Too bitter--odd hops for the style.

This stout was very dark and thick looking with a moderate head and good lacing. Hoppy aroma with notes of fruit, pine and tobacco. Medium to full bodied, warm and sweet up front, a bit tangy, with coffee and chocolate flavors but between the roasted malt and all the hops it had an overriding bitterness that I found distracting-seemed unbalanced and a stretch in the style department.

Opaque black with a large diminishing hazelnut head. I would be hard pressed to find a better looking beer. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roast and a bit of alcohol. Medium thick creamy palate with a decent amount of carbonation. Very nice flavor of roast, coffee, chocolate, anise, with hints of fruit and alcohol. Somewhat astringent. A very good stout.

Ebony body and mocha head. Smells like flourless chocolate cake with a hint of vanilla and some alcohol. This puppy redeems Rogue for its hop assault in its other beers. Creamy roasted malt, chalky bittersweet cocoa powder, and a dusty/sticky finish. Yes.
