3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAR 18, 2014 Bottle: Jet black, no color, topped with a huge, dark-tan head made of fine bubbles that lasts for seemingly days; chunky lacing left behind. Aroma full of sweetness & roasted grains... small dose of ashy, leafy hops bite the nostrils. Light cocoa powder, smooth cut oats, & a current of creamy sweetness that ties everything together. Deep, robust flavor of heavily roasted malts, nuts, wood, bittersweet cocoa nibs & cocoa powder, & a hint of bitter espresso bean on the very back end. Strong hop presence; earthy, leafy, mildly floral, acting as a good malt offset. Nice creaminess from the oats, which are flavorful in the aftertaste. Lasting, lightly hop-bitter, earthy-cocoa finish. Might be the best beer I’ve had from Rogue.
UPDATED: JAN 13, 2018 сухой, не много бочки, какао бобы, на отдаление хмель жженочка, в общем не плохая земелька, разве что ну не овсянка CVoll (2) - - JAN 1, 2018 does not count
Tastes and smells like the dark malts used in it, just like chewing on the roasted malts. Smooth, malty, almost like no hops or yeast were used.

Dark brown color, off-white head with medium retention. Aroma has hoppy notes, toasted malts and dry fruits. Flavor is light hoppy, toasty, toffee, moderate bitterness. Bittery final with toasty notes.
UPDATED: NOV 11, 2017 Black colored beer with a good beige head. Taste is nutty, black malts, coffee, chocolade, fruity and bitter. Daboch (245) - Gdansk, POLAND - NOV 4, 2017
Ciemnobrunatne piwo z piękną beżową pianą. Aromat kawowo-czekoladowy, trochę chmielu i nut palonych. W smaku podobnie, kawa, czekolada, finisz wytrawny. Trochę za mało ciała. Niezły stout hrabren (1948) - Zagreb, CROATIA - NOV 2, 2017
Bottle shared with Višnja 666. Thanks! Black, small tan head. Light chocolate, dark fruits, roasty, cardboard. Light liquorice, nuts, very nice roasty flavours, charred wood. Medium body, moderate carbonation, roasty finish. Impressive use of hops and oats! Dbcwi88 (88) - Loughton, ENGLAND - OCT 16, 2017
Toasted grain bitterness dominant tones on nose and taste. Also coffee and dark chocolate on tongue. Bitter aftertaste. Very full bodied even for nitro. Nice. One of bitterest American stouts I've had bdleedahl (631) - , Saskatchewan, CANADA - OCT 8, 2017
Within the style i don't find it to be that great. The taplines at pdx need to be cleaned badly, rogue should monitor this.
