3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
The beer has got a very dark, opaque brown body, with a rich brown head. Wonderful lacing and impressive head retention. A truly beautiful stout!
A pronounced earthy hoppiness really fights for the main role in the aroma. However, the strong roasted malt profile is still the dominant. Dark chocolate and coffee, with some toasted bread notes.
The taste is kind of coarse at first, with a very pronounced bitterness and coffee notes. However, after a few moments, it becomes much smooth and a bit more complex. It has a very rich roasted malt profile, with almost tobacco-like notes. Dark chocolate, espresso, a bit of licorice, and oatmeal. The finish is bitter and malty. As the beer warms up, you may get some nice sweetness and a smoother finish. Tasty, yet very roasty, so not necessarily a beer for all.
Medium-bodied. Some carbonation can be felt at first. No real feel of alcohol. Not the most pleasant mouthfeel, yet it is quite alright.
For such a hoppy and bitter stout, this goes down very well. I would not call this a session stout, but this is certainly very drinkable nonetheless.
Toasted grain bitterness dominant tones on nose and taste. Also coffee and dark chocolate on tongue. Bitter aftertaste. Very full bodied even for nitro. Nice. One of bitterest American stouts I've had bdleedahl (594) - , Saskatchewan, CANADA - OCT 8, 2017
Within the style i don't find it to be that great. The taplines at pdx need to be cleaned badly, rogue should monitor this.

Bomber from 11th St Liquor store in New Westminster. A black beer with moderate tan head and a malted chocolate nose. Pronounced chocolate overtones here. Very nice overall. 3.9 geolgau (416) - Cluj-Napoca, ROMANIA - OCT 5, 2017
Full bodied, roasted malts, dust. Dark chocolate, nice bitterness, stale coffee. Some oat. No jam, some grassy bitter hops. Finish is a bit too bitter. Wish it was more complex. Scipio (1181) - Palatine, Illinois, USA - OCT 1, 2017
Pours black with a medium tan head that settles slowly. A balanced aroma finds roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and licorice. The taste is very dry and has a good amount of bitterness to it. Dark chocolate with a strong coffee are the dominate flavors, while a healthy roasted element is extended from the nose. Light toasty elements and minor raisin finish this one. Its pretty straightforward altogether, but it does the trick. Coffee finish. Medium bodied, creamy in texture, while being soft in carbonation. You really can't go wrong here. This is a classic.

12floz bottle, no freshness date, $2.75 as a single, pint glass. Appears near black with small layer of thin head. Good roasted aroma that has notes of toffee. Black coffee, and dark chocolate flavors are carried boldly over a medium body. A nice American stout, somewhat hampered in total score by appearance and a standard textural feel. It's been some time since I had this beer by Rogue. ironcontra (401) - POLAND - AUG 27, 2017
Coca-cola, choclit, nuts, oats of course, 75% sweet, long bitterish / hoppy aftertaste, decently carbonated Fisler (654) - Bamberg, GERMANY - AUG 26, 2017
Schöner Schokoschaum. In der Nase Karamell-Cappuccino. Im Trunk Schokolade, Espresso, bitter, leicht wässrig in der Mitte, hinten Zarbitterschokolade. Trolleo (1718) - Pula / Zagreb, CROATIA - AUG 21, 2017
Brutally nice cocoa, oats, roasted malt, earth and milk chocolate aroma. Complex like some lighter Imperial Stout. Pitch black, clear, medium sized brown head. Taste is somewhat weaker than the aroma. Touch of sourness, lots of cocoa, some raw coffee. Thin body, lively carbonation, creamy texture. meatmanmd (167) - Chisinau, MOLDOVA - AUG 21, 2017
Black with decent tan head. Light sweet with dark chocolate, a little cold coffee, oats, nuts, light fruity hops. Balanced and rounded, very good.
