PIB 2008. Pours glowing orange, hazy, with a soft white head. Very big grapefruit hop nose. Hops were fresh and aromatic, slightly sharp on the bitterness, piney note in the finish. Palate was heavy and a bit thick, but didn’t seem to lack floral notes because of it. craftbeerdesign (2254) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUL 19, 2008
750 ml bottle. this is more like a IIPA for me... an aged IIPA. and it is definitely over-priced. Not worth the $20+ that this one cost.... anyways.... was still very enjoyable. pours a deep red with a thick white head. citrus in the aroma... as well as some aged malts. some salt up front and grapefruit coated hops on the back end. some alcohol on the finish. medium body... somewhat one dimensional overall. good, but not great. bduca (1) - Herndon, Virginia, USA - JUL 15, 2008 does not count
I liked the bold texture mixed with heavy grapefruit. Poured hazy orange. Huge hop and malt combo done just right. Strong white head deteriorating slowly. Great piney aroma right from the first sip to the last sip. Surprisingly smooth at 10% Headbanger (3999) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUL 7, 2008
UPDATED: JUL 26, 2008 Bottle(4/25/08)-A hazy cloudy orange with a nice tight off white head. Has an aroma of citrus, fruit, and hops. The flavor is of bitterness with some dryness and malty. This medium bodied brew is very nice tasting.

Thanks for sharing Chris. Pours a coppery orange, nice white head, thinning over time. Big hops, a bit soapy, floral sweet light malt. Viscous creamy, low carbonation. Not quite syrupy. Big hops, sweet malt. Caramelly with alcohol and big grapefruit. Lingering grapefruit astringency. Not bad. I really can’t see why this isn’t a double IPA. twitcher (298) - framingham, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 4, 2008
Booze, booze, booze. Smells of booze and burnt hops. Tastes like... booze. And not much else. Heavy alcohol heat drowns out most of the other flavors. Some piney hop flavors and over-roasted malts, but nothing impressive.
Crap beer in a nice bottle with an elevated price tag. Ibrew2or3 (8614) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - MAY 28, 2008
Big thanks to Gillard for sitting on this beer and waiting for an excuse to open when I happen to also be in attendance. I’ve been pining for this beer for some time now. YESSSSSS!!!! Now I get some. Pours hazy orange to copper with off white head. The aroma is sweet chewy sticky maltiness mixed with pine to grassy hop bitterness. Plenty of drool inducing aroma. I still get alcohol pulling up into the nose near the end of the whiff. The taste begins smooth with lightly roasted malt semi sweetness. It gets bolder quickly as the pine to grassy hop bitterness and mild pine late addition hop flavor break through to the surface. The sweeter flavor notes recede into the finish as the hop bitterness only grows stronger. Some caramel notes poke up from time to time too. Just a delicious brew.
Cloudy tea-coloured amber. Big aromas of cereal, caramel, and loads of peachy fruity hops. Heavy dense mouthfeel of equal quantites thick malt and fruity bitter hops. A big beer. hopscotch (11101) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 12, 2008
Bottle… DLD’08… Cloudy, orange-tinted ale with a mid-sized, wispy, off-white head. The aroma bestows notes of fuzzy and citrus fruit along with evergreen and PNW hops. Great retention. Full-bodied with prickly carbonation. Mild sweetness, medium to heavy grapefruit rind bitterness and a very light dusting of salt. Bitter, earthy finish. Thanks so much to Headbanger for sharing his bottle!
