I was talked into buying this beer by the beer store owner. I totally caved to the limited factor and marketing of this beer. I give Rogue credit for the marketing and originality or interesting factor of this beer. It got me to buy one. The aroma of this beer is definitely enjoyable. Smells like smoked bacon and breakfast meat. The texture and taste is absolutely horrible. The taste doesn’t even match the ingredients. It is like a bottle of liquid smoke. First ever drain pour for me. Waste of 12 bucks. knickskicks (1162) - - JUL 12, 2012
Looks like watered-down maple syrup. Terrific breakfast smell: bacon, smoked sausage, butter, maple syrup. Taste doesn’t live up to the nose. Weak smoked taste, very thin. Bevbro (26) - Jamul, California, USA - JUL 11, 2012
Smells like heaven taste like trash! I was never going to try this until a friend brought it over for a tasting. Couldn’t finish the bottle between 4 of us. And yes it does have bacon bits on the bottom :puke jercraigs (10303) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 10, 2012
2012-07-06. Lightly hazy bright amber boy with a small beige head. 3+ Smokey bacon in aroma, maple, sort of doughy/pancake like character. 7+ Bizarre flavour, smoked pork, woody aspect to it, raw bacon, maple is less sweet than in aroma. Finish is a harsh melange of flavours. Average palate. 3+ Ugh. An unfortunate ending to an interesting experiment. Edit: I thought I was crazy thinking I was getting actual pork and bacon flavours but I see that there is some listed in the ingredients in the commercial description. Huh. Bottle - 750mL crowned. Coppery amber with a tall, foamy tan head. Aroma is burnt bacon, smoky malt notes, hints of maple syrup, forest fire and smoldering earth. Taste is smoked malt, ash, burnt wood, light bacon notes and faint maple. The burnt wood and smoky malt is dominant and detracts from the beer where the maple should come out more. Body is light medium with a soft, bubbly carbonation and a lingering ashy flavor on the tongue. Ends with more smoked malt, forest fire/camp fire, ash, burning wood, burnt bacon bits and hints of maple syrup.

Nose of maple salty sweet smoked malts a little dusty yeast. Pours brown copper thin head. Flavors of smokey salty sweet notes up front a little meaty light roast earth dust and then maple sweetness in finish. A little thin on the mouthfeel and the carbonatiom was a little flabby but i liked it more than manu others. Not bad glad i didnt have to buy it. jake65 (3626) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - JUL 6, 2012
Bottle: Pours a flat caramel color with a small beige head. Smells like a smokey maple bar... it really does. Taste is plentiful with smoke, that thick campfire type of smoke. Just a hint of the maple sweetness up front before the smoke takes over. A bit of hops at the end competing with the smoke. Aftertaste lingers with maple and smokey bits. Interesting experience. jmohno (1612) - Iowa, USA - JUL 6, 2012
Dark gold orangish brown clear, foamy head, strong carbonation.
Aroma is pancakes maple and bacon.cream soda as it warms.
Taste is muted or a muddled aroma flavor then vanilla and fizzyness very much like cream soda then finishes like a bittered normal ale.Seems medium bodied which i thought would be dark thick and malty but is just more cream soda like. Some buttery mild toffee notes with the malt, bittering is kinda piney. Not getting much smoke maybe some oxidation and more of a vanilla like flavor. Interesting.I would try it again but not too soon. realbama (55) - Destin, Florida, USA - JUL 6, 2012
How on earth could anyone pass up at least trying this? Bubble gum colored bottle advertising a "bacon maple smoked" ale? Well, I couldn’t pass it up. I will next time though. Definitely worth the try. Very smoked taste, very smokey. Rich maple syrup type taste. The bacon gets lost. There’s no way I would drink an entire bottle of this but its worth the try. A very complex beer. GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - JUL 4, 2012
Bottle. Thanks to Scott and Kesha! Poured a clear dark orange color. The head was a few fingers high and off white. Smelled as billed. Maple frosting, cake doughnut, and distinct smoked malt. Light to medium bodied and slightly sweet. Less sweet than I had expected from the nose. Pale smoked malt dominated the flavor, but the smoke was not Bambergian in magnitude. There were also maple and roasted pecan notes. Interplay between the smoke and maple created an almost cinnamon-like flavor into the finish. I always enjoy trying something new.
