UPDATED: JAN 14, 2014 bottle. clear gold/amber/orange with a small white head. aroma is full of sweet maple soaked pancakes and smoky sizzling bacon fat. that is awesome! bacon is the dominant flavor while the maple from the aroma fades during the taste but gives way to a sweet pale malt. this beer has a medium body with low carbonation. they did a great job with this. i’ll probably never try this again, but i was a really interesting beer to enjoy once.

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2014 Bottle @ ZZT4. Orange to red colour with no head. Smells quite unique! Maple obviously, smoked, sweet. Tastes smokey, sweet, syruppy, wood, haagse hopjes. This is a weird beer. Lots of taste going on. Not bad! Medium body, good carbo.

UPDATED: AUG 2, 2014 650ml bottle @ ZZT IV. Hazy orange to light red color, small off-white to beige lacing. Aroma is smoke, bacon, lightly candy, syrup. Taste smoke, bacon and hopjesvla. Absolutely NOT my thing at all. Low to medium carbo and body. Re-rate August 2nd 2014: I am now even more horrified by this "beer". Omg this is absolutely dreadful.

Pours a murky light brown with a cotton candy head. Beautiful lacing. Thick bacon scent, punctuated with baking soda and powdered sugar. Absolutely disgusting maple flavor, with notes of grapefruit and circus peanut. Chunky mouthfeel and long finish.

Poured into a tulip glass. Smells of roasted maple syrup, smells smokey almost. Tastes of smoke, I don’t think I can drink another sip.

first thoughts was this beer smells awesome. woody, smokey, maple syrup out the wazoo, but i didnt peg it for maple syrup, i thought it was vanilla, or bourbon. the taste was just intensely maple syrup veiling a thin smokey flavor. it was thin, and light, and not very good.

Appearance: ruddy orange-brown with a creamy off-white head and decent lacing. Aroma: strongly of maple syrup, with notes of smoked beechwood malts and yes, a hint of smoky, salty bacon. Taste: rauchbier-esque, with smoky, meaty, salty bacon and sweet toasty malts, with a strong injection of maple flavoring. Finish: slightly dry and ashy, with the salty, smoky, and sweet notes fighting for supremacy. Notes: This was exactly as advertised. That said, I didn’t much care for it. The maple flavoring was syrupy and sweet, and just too strong; it was also artificial tasting. Definite marks for creativity; I especially liked the pepto-pink bottle.

Amber pour with a cream head. Maple, bacon, syrup, smoke. Easy on the palate, nose matches the flavor.

Bottle. Pours with a hazy golden amber hued body with a small off-white head. Aromas are sweet, maple, confectioners powder, sugar, doughy, chocolate, smokey, earthy, ash. Flavors are of firewood, smoke, sweet, burnt and sharp. Mild paint thinner. Lively bubbles, dry and chalky. Honestly it was somewhat better than I expected.

Thanks to my brother for sharing this bottle. I really had no idea what to expect, so I tried to go in with an open mind. The beer pours and orange-amber color with a white head. The aroma is definitely heavy on the smoke, with some maple syrup notes thrown in. Not bad. The flavor is also pretty heavy on the woody smoke, with some maple syrup and toffee notes thrown in. All of those notes mix fairly well together. Medium to thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Surprisingly, I don’t hate the beer. The four or five ounces I had were enough, but I thought the beer was OK and am glad I got to try it. I thought all the notes mixed pretty well together, they were just so strong and in your face that it would be tough to drink too much of this beer.
