Yea, about what you expect. Love their beers and this is made well but the flavor is just too weird.

Pink bottle from BevMo Salinas. Guess I should have saved my money. Nose reeks of bacon fat, smoke (and a smoked should have that), and a slight bit of maple in the background. Clear orange with a big yellow orange tinged head. Flavor is bacon, smoker, and a little bitterness. Finishes lightly bitter and smoky. Where is Yogi when you need him to swipe and finish the bottle?

You know what’s awesome? Bacon. You know what else is good? Doughnuts. Maple syrup? Great on some pancakes, or even when you get some on your bacon. Together, though, with beer? Hell no. Nose isn’t too bad; nice smoke and some maple as well as some weirdly sweet I guess doughnut notes. Tastes sickly sweet and like liquid smoke. Didn’t mind a few sips but then couldn’t bring myself to take more than 2-3 more. Blech.

Pours a pouring orange with fizzy white head. Nose is 100% maple syrup. Taste is very big maple a bit thin a nice roast smoky touch. Decent, odd, not an ever day beer but it was worth trying. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: APR 26, 2013 Bottle shared with Linh and ken at top hops in NYC. Pours a clear amber body with light half finger off white head. Aroma is dominated by maple syrup with some additional notes of smoked meat and pancakes. Mouthfeel is somewhat thin and surprisingly not as maple as the aroma suggests. Instead, the flavor revolves around the smoked character which I wasn’t a huge fan of personally.

Bottle. Pink Pepto Bismol bottle. Hazy toffee coloured ale. White head disappears fast. Aroma of breakfast at Denny’s. Bacon and maple, smoke, malts. Reminds me of fluffy pancakes with syrup. Medium bodied and a bit chewy. Toasted malts in the flavour with pancake syrup, a slight fruity sweetness and mildly bitter hops leading to smoke, ham, bacon. Long sweet maple finish.

Bottle. Pours clear red, creamy head. Aroma of bacon, maple syrup, smoke, pancakes, some booze. Flavour of a smoked beer, and maple syrup. Thin, terrible combination of flavours. TERRIBLE.

Bottle shared up at Proof. sweet and smokey aroma - smoked salmon vibe - ashy cocoa and cigarette afters - I’m not really a smoke brew fan so... 5.8

Not for the faint of heart. If you don’t like smoked beers you can stop reading this now. Aroma of over powering smoke, some maple notes if you try hard. Taste is smoke, campfire smoke, and artificial maple flavor, thin malt. Finish is smoky and dry, sticks with you for the rest of the day. Best used as marinades for smoked or grilled meats or in a barbeque sauce mixture. $12.99 plus tax.

All you need to know is that this is liquid breakfast. Complete with pancakes, maple syrup, and bacon. The beer was overpoweringly sweet to me so I was happy to share a good portion of the bottle. To me, this is a gimmick beer but interesting to try. You’d have to love maple bacon more than you love your own children to drink this often.
