pintbypint (3827) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 30, 2012
750ml brown bottle. Golden pour, hazy, fat white creamy cap. Mapley nose with a bit of underlying smokiness. In the mouth the beer has some sweetness - caramel and maple, also woody, smoky, meaty, toasty. Light hops at the end. Lingering wood and smoke aftertastes and a little deep throat bitterness. Body and carbonation seem average. Interesting bacon cooked over the campfire mixed with beer. I like it.

Bottle - A bready aroma with a punch of maple, not very complex and will permeate a room. Cloudy brown. I get the bready yeast and maple, but the bacon is lost to me, although those around me swear it is there. Sticky on the palate and overall an interesting beer but not a great one.

750 ml bottle from bev4less. Pours a translucent amber color with a small beige head that soon recedes to a film. The aroma is sweet with maple syrup and some light sweet smoke. The flavor is dominated by the maple syrup, the smoke is very light and hardly noticeable, and there is some nutty hoppiness rounding out the sides and the back. The palate was a bit thin and unsatisfying, and the carbonation was lively. Finishes long and sweet, and I also pick up a weird metallic taste-aftertaste. Overall: Not nearly as complex as I imagined this could be, and the mouthfeel was thinner than I prefer. Decent, but too sweet and not enough smoke. I’d buy again if the price was cheaper.

Bottle from the brewery in Portland. That is a different beer. The bacon and maple almost would be better for breakfast. Crazy pink bottle. Sweet smooth start as well as lingering taste. Syrupy aftertaste. One of the weirdest beers ever but worth the try. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

portableparty (2383) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAR 28, 2012
Bottle. Pours clear dark amber with a quick off white head that dissipates to a tiny ring. Aroma is like smelling pancakes and syrup on a Sunday morning. Taste is more sweet maple syrup and glaze from a doughnut and I do get a faint taste of smoke or sweet bacon in the finish along with an strange bitterness. Palate is medium and chalky with a drying finish. Very interesting!

Date: March 24, 2012 Mode: Bottle Source: DalzAle tasting Description: Clear orangish golden pour with nice head and lacing. Aroma was a sweet maple glazed doughnut with a hint of bacon. The taste was similar with a dry bitter finish. Came in an awesome pink bottle.

Powertrip (1000) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 24, 2012
Single bottle purchased from Kensington Wine Market in Calgary, AB on 03/01/2012. Colour: What a shock, maple syrup brown with low white head. Nose: Wood smoke, molasses, burning electrical cords, hot garbage - not really what I was anticipating. Taste: Medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter. medium-light sour. Maple is forward then some chalky burnt ashes. Having a hard time pulling out the bacon from the smoke...but I’m sure its in there somewhere. Malty late and the smoke sticks around. Original and unique but wouldn’t buy again.

DalzAle (2038) - Eden Prairie, Minnesota, USA - MAR 21, 2012
Bottle. Clear brownish orange pour and a little carbonation and a strange pleasing aroma of smoked bacon, doughnuts and chocolate. Flavor is also light smoked malt, maple syrup, bacon and artificially sweet. I can’t really rate this negatively, it tastes exactly as described and isn’t half bad.

dnstone (3524) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - MAR 19, 2012
Strong aroma of maple-frosted donut/maple bacon and smoke...right on with the title. Deep copper-amber in color with khaki-colored head. Soft in texture. Light-bodied and flovorful but not overbearing...smoke, maple, bacon...pretty much like the aroma.

Definitely polarizing but this one works for me. Might have gotten old if drinking it alone but the savory bacon goodness matched up quite well with a steak. Aroma is heavy on the maple while the taste is heavier on the bacon and smoke. Sweet but not cloying. Wish I’d picked up two.
