GnarlyGnome (770) - Fairfield, Ohio, USA - APR 22, 2014
Bottle: pours extremely dark brown with a fizzy dark brown head. Aromas are milk chocolate and banana, but I’m not getting peanut butter, although I suppose in a donut I wouldn’t really either. Taste, like the other voodoo donut ale I have had is a bit of a letdown. Tastes artificial, even if it might be what they were going for. Nice idea, poorly executed in my opinion.

furthur (1214) - Eagle River, Alaska, USA - APR 20, 2014
Bottle. Black body, decent light caramel head. Smells like a barley wine, with spice, malt, caramel chocolate, and fruit. Taste is cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, lightly nutty, citrus. Body is light, carbonation fine, but ample. Finish is bitter/hoppy, in spite of sweet beginning. Not as bad as I feared.

mateuszk (2755) - Poznań, POLAND - APR 13, 2014
Bottle. Aroma is sweet chocolate and bananas but unfortunatelly smells artificial. Some caramel and nutts are noticable. The beer is brown with almost no head. In taste again bananas and chocolate, it tasted like sweet, banana flavoured chocolate bar. Medium body, light bitter finish. Very disappointing.

Pours dark brown to black with low light tan head. Aroma of, well, what it says I suppose... There’s banana, milk chocolate, toffee, maybe peanut butter although I’m not really sure what that smells like. It does smell very, very sweet. Not bad, just very unique. I quite like it, actually. Taste is funky as hell, however. The body is the first thing you notice, really. It’s very light, not at all as rich as you’d expect from the aroma (although the ABV might give it away). Then there’s that overly sweet, weird banana-ish flavor that just doesn’t go with beer. And the carbonation that makes it even weirder. This ends up being one of the oddest reviews I’ve ever written. It looks really good, it smells nice, then this entire house of cards just falls apart when you take the first sip. I feel like this would have been so much better if they had pumped up the ABV. Richer body, sweeter taste without the weird off flavors and less carbonation would maybe have made it even more marmite but at least it would have been consistent.

Bottle: Pours dark brown with ruby lights, thick, dark tan head. Heavy chocolate syrup/melted fudge aroma. Taste is bittersweet nutty, creamy over strong chocolate, vague banana, flat cola. Sweet, thick, cloying. Interesting, but not beer-like....Dessert-level feel and taste... Really didn’t hit it’s marks for me.

Maris (1557) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - MAR 24, 2014
From a 1Pt 9.4 Fl Oz bottle on 23/3/2014 (shared with Butz). Pours a very dark brown with a smallish head. has a lovely aroma featuring heaps of milk chocolate and banana. The flavour is more milk chocolate, banana, some roasted/coffee malt, with a little bit of peanut presenting right at the end. There’s a decent hop kick at the back as well. The carbonation is average and the palate just a touch watery, which detracts a little from the overall experience (a beer with these flavours would be better thick and syrupy). This is a weird beer but it’s actually pretty good - definitely better than I thought it would be. It’s unmistakably a beer, albeit a very different one.

shrubber85 (11508) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - MAR 23, 2014
Bottle. Strong peanut butter-chocolate fudge malt and banana aroma. Dark brown with small head. Lightly sweet banana, peanut, and chocolate malt flavor. Bitter vegetal finish. Light body. Not nearly as sweet as the aroma would seem to indicate and not a fan of the bitter finish.

3/19/2014. 22 oz. bottle. Rogue makes some awesome brews, but this is not one of them. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aromas are banana extract, chocolate and some odd vegetable notes. The flavors have hints of chocolate at first but soon turn metallic and unpleasant. A bit of hops on the finish, but I’d stay clear of this one.

mkam (409) - POLAND - MAR 16, 2014
Bottle. Pours dark brown, head quickly reduced to small ring. Aroma is banana, with a hints of dark malts and nuts. In taste there is banana, chocolate and something creamy. Nice low to medium bitterness. Not very bad, but very flat, disappointing beer.
