KajII's rating

   AROMA 6/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 5/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 10/20
KajII (800) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - MAY 14, 2012
UPDATED: NOV 30, 2013 22oz Bottle. The pour was a hazy medium orange with a large (2-3 finger) off white rocky head that lasted throughout and produced some good streaky lacing.

The aroma was kind of mild of floral and pine hops, a straw malt and a mild earthy cobweb yeast with a hint of caramel and citrus (lemon peel and orange peel).

The taste was moderately bitter with an ever so slight trace of caramel at first, and then very quickly became extremely bitter with a huge dose of a harsh bitter citrus peel at the end. The flavor hung around longer that I would have liked being mostly of a harsh bitter citrus peel taste and not much else.

Mouthfeel was just above light in body with an extremely dry texture and an almost prickly carbonation.

Overall an IPA that was just a bit harsher that I would have liked, to much citrus peel taste for my liking...

An orange colored clear beer with a creamy beige head. Caramel sweet malts and an interesting spice hop aroma. Sweet bread and mild citrus, plenty of bitterness. Not bad but in a ridiculously crowded IPA market, this isnt more than above average.

Good beer, second even better than the first. A little low on carbonation but made up by aftertaste. Mouthfeel just not that.

The name alone is worth a smile and a conversation. The taste is crafty and hoppy. One of the best Rogue beers that I have tasted.

Bottle from boxbeers.dk. Pours hazy yellow with average big, creamy, off-white head. Malty aroma, note of caramel, touch of pepper. Taste slighty bitter, almost harsh level at the end of the sip, but leaves some place for herbs and wood. Dry finish.

Pours a cloudy amber orange color. About one finger ivory colored head, some cascading action. Odd. Good head retention, good lacing. Good looking beer.

Aroma is lime. Biscuit. Caramel. Citrus hops. Buttered popcorn. Smells somewhat bitter.

Taste is lime, lime peel. Maybe a little apricot. Lots of hops. Here and there and everywhere. Bitter, but not very. Some maltiness, but overwhelmed by hops. Some orange. Starts bitter, finishes bitter. Light pine resin on the finish.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Lots of hoo oil and resin linger to make this bitter and lingering bitter. Feels like IBUs are much higher than 70. Dry, and very crisp. Each sip takes two swallows. Its that bitter.

Overall, its pretty good. More bitter than expected. Good beer. Id recommend it, and Id buy it again.

Medium aroma of malts, caramel, orange, tropical fruit, hops and citrus.

Turbid/opaque golden/amber beer with heavy yeast and with a slight/medium off-white head.

Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, orange and tropical fruit; ends slightly bitter and dry with hops and citrus.

This beer is rather intense, complex and balanced. The aroma and flavour are good, but nothing more than that. The appearance is amazing and the palate is great. Nothing really bad here, quite a good IPA.

Dirty name but a great IPA. Strong and outspoken aroma of hops. Love this one!
