(Draught at Prazsky Most U Valsu, Prague, 27 July 2011) Dark reddish brown colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark fruit, chocolate and toasted malt. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark fruit, caramel, chocolate, hints of smoke and a slightly bitter-sweet finish. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Bottle. Dark brown with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma is malty, caramelly, toasted, bready and earthy. Taste is roasted, malty, a bit fruity, sweetish but balanced by a nice bitterness, with some metallic elements and a marginal sweetener astringency in the aftertaste. From bottle at Czeska Baszta, Warszawa. Dark reddish brown with a smallish, creamy tan head. Semi-dry, caramel, hints of roast. Grainy mouthfeel. Sehr süßer Antrunk, das Malz darunter wirkt dagegen fast unwichtig. Weiter unnatürlich süß, etwas würzig werdend, penetrant künstlich. Etwas getreidig werdend, das Malz kommt im späten Mittelteil doch noch zur Geltung. Dennoch bleibt das Bier süß-künstlich, zum Ende hin etwas herb und hopfig. Hier wurden mit der Süße die meisten Aromenansätze zerstört.

Bottled, best before June 16, 2011, so very fresh. Quite dark compared to some of the dunkels I’ve been having. Deep ruby, nice lingering head. This one was started pretty warm. Aroma is sweet (earth, caramel, plus a tiny bit of natural bubblegum, believe it or not) with a lot of strange green fresh leaf overlaid - and good. The flavor is all fresh caramel, but overloads and unidimensional. Hops are not really there for me in this one; they can’t outlast the malty sweetness and the more interesting yeastiness which adds to it. Bottle. Pours clear, dark reddish brown with a foamy beige head that doesn’t last very long. Nose is roasty, chocolatey and nutty with hints of toffee and dark fruit in the background. Flavour is similar but spicier and more chocolatey with additional notes of pepper, cinnamon and grass. Light, dry mouthfeel with moderate carbonation and a lengthy dry, bitter finish. 500ml bottle. Dark reddish brown with a tight cm of light tan head. Mild aroma of toast, hazelnut oil with a touch of grass and snoke. Oily body. Cheap-chocolaty sweet with some sourness and mild roasted bitterness and a very light herbal/ grass hop note. A bit sweet for my tastes but has an elegant dry finish.
