COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Vanilla Porter is a complex English-style porter that was brewed with a wide variety of specialty malts. Chocolate malt, caramel malt, black malt, and roasted barley are used in this beer to give it an intricate flavor. The vanilla flavoring is an extract that is added after fermentation that gives the beer yet another layer of taste. Porters are considered to be in-between brown ales and stouts, but Vanilla Porter is right on the edge of a stout.

On tap at the Brewpub in Ogden. Aroma of chocolate and caramel malts with vanilla on top.

Maybe I like my dark beers with a bit more substance. More body. And maybe the darker porters are more for English workingman's lunch. The vanilla tweaks the tongue in just the right way. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark , brown color. Thin, beige head. Aroma of vanilla, caramel and chocolate. Sweet taste with notes of chocolate and vanilla. Not too sweet. Very smooth and easy to drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap at the Brewpub Dark brown bordering on black wispy off white head dissipates quickly. Big vanilla on the nose and flavor with a faint porter underneath. Decent dark beer.

Strong vanilla flavor and aftertaste. Their best other than some seasonals. I like that the vanilla profile is overt, just like their unfortunately short-lived fuego coffee stout with it’s no nonsense coffee dominance.

FROTHINGSLOSH (8069) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 16, 2016
Sampled from a 16 oz can this beer poured a black color with a large creamy brown head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was faint but dryish and a bit malty. The flavor was bitter with a sourish malty note and just a hint of vanilla. Bitter and off underneath. Medium length finish. Medium body. Disappointing.

Poured into a pint glass from a 16oz tallboy can. 3.5 A: Black color. Two and a half fingers of foamy beige head. Retention is a touch better than average and plenty of irregular loops of lacing are left. 4.0 S: Powerful roasted barley bordering on charred. Vanilla greater than chocolate, then coffee making a crème brulee type aroma. The vanilla is done very well in this, not too much, not too little. 3.25 T: On the bitter side, of which I suspect a lot of it comes from the roasted barley rather than just the hops. Less vanilla flavor than aroma, but alright. Chocolate and coffee are a bit more subdued. It’s not bad, but what this really needs is more sweetness to balance. Actually, this would benefit from being on the sweeter side. 3.25 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Lacking creaminess. This would benefit greatly from a thicker, creamier body. 3.25 D: It’s not bad, but it misses the mark in several areas. ★ 961 characters DavoleBomb, Nov 15, 2015

Draft. Served to me a dark brown with a very small head. Looks like it is a bit thin. Aroma is some strange spice I can’t identify, vanilla, light roasted malts, and a touch of cocoa. Taste is similar with some alcohol noticeable, just a touch of cocoa on the back end. Moderately bitter. Absolutely no big yummy chocolate flavors. Really not all that pleasant. Light+ to medium bodied and a bit thin. Average carbonation. Finishes lightly dry.

Pours dark brow black, with light brown fluffy head. The aroma is roasty vanilla, and caramel. Vey vanilla flavor with chocolate, caramel and some coffee. Mouth feel is super smooth. This is very good.

Huge vanilla with very smooth feel on initial tasting of draft offering. Durable head. Toasty malt balance with low perceived IBU. Clean finish with some lingering vanilla.
