UPDATED: JAN 20, 2016 Quite an interesting beer. Had this during Bockbier Woche at Prachtwerk in Berlin. Up there among the best Dopplebocks I’ve had. The finish can be a bit disappointing, but overall it has good flavor, and a very drinkable body. Highly recommended. rauchbierlover (664) - Berlin, Berlin, GERMANY - NOV 24, 2013
Brown reddish body with a tall and compact off-white head. Fruity aroma. Taste is caramel, some strawberry. Malty taste, mild bitter finish. You don’t feel its 7,2%. BlackHaddock (7586) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 5, 2012
Draught 0.3 litre glass at the brewery tap on a January evening 2012: this was my fourth and final beer that evening. The brewery uses the same glasses for every beer, but the brews seem to sit happily in the chosen tall, slim, handled glass wear, no matter the style.
This beer is a dull red come brown colour, semi-hazy and with an off-white crown of bubbles on top, the head soon fell away to a wisp and collar.
The nose and main flavour in the mouth was of milk chocolate, smooth and leaning towards creamy, the alcohol content was evident but it didn’t detract from the enjoyment or taste of the overall experience. Although I’ve only mentioned chocolate so far this isn’t a one dimensional tasting beer, there is some hop bitterness lurking in the background with a mini-fruit cocktail of flavours within the smells and taste. I really liked it, the best of the four I had the pleasure of tasting that evening anyway.
