Bottle drank in August 2004 with the friendly brewer Mike. Deep amber coloured. Big aroma with loads of malt, fruits and hops. Complex flavour. Sweet and fruity with notes of cascade hops and especially pineapples. Bitter finish. The alcohol is well hidden. Smooth mouthfeel. Full bodied. I tasted another bottle in March 2005 which unfortunately had turned a little bit sour. Emil (6064) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - APR 10, 2005
Hazy red brown colour with no head. Sweet winy malty caramel aroma and a sweet fruity light alcoholic taste. Medium to full body and a sweet to alcoholic finish. Jeppe (2634) - Brooklyn, Alabama, USA - APR 5, 2005
Pours a hazy caramel color with a small head. Heavy aroma of malt, citrus and caramel with hints of stable. Very fruity flavor with malty notes. Orange and pineapple. Heavy, but hides the alcohol very well. Thanks a lot Ungstrup for sharing this 16% barley wine from Italy!! Ungstrup (38986) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - MAR 15, 2005
A hazy brown beer with a beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramal and loads of hops. The alcohol is very well hidden behind the hops, though the mouthfeel is sticky. ThomasE (5174) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - MAR 15, 2005
Dark amber colour with off white head. Malty, fruity and sweet aroma with some alcohol. Flavor is malty with dark fruits and caramel, heavy alcohol finish.

Dark amber color. The malty aroma (nothing special) shows some infection. Tasting it, it’s no infected; it’s malty, and malty again, and a lot bitter; sweet nuts; too much alcoholic. Really rough! jfm (1724) - Holbæk, DENMARK - MAR 13, 2005
2004, The taste is sweet with a very nice balanced alcohol warmth. Light fruity and nutty notes. Nice one. Aubrey (3516) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - OCT 24, 2004
Cloudy and deep amber. Nose was filled with sweet spices and citrus. Flavor was loaded with a zippy citrus, candi sugar, and caramel-coated apples. A little acidic at times. Sweetness was big up front, but seemed to thin out toward the finish. Malty barleywine with a tamed sweetness. Interesting stuff. Ernest (7890) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 17, 2004
Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is murky dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, molasses), lightly yeasty (mold), with notes of peach, sherry, alcohol, and toffee. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, soft carbonation. A beer that seems to be more than the sum of its parts. Thanks to Nick for a sample of this rarity. Murphy (1759) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - OCT 13, 2004
Hot malty and alcoholic aroma. Very malty palate with a sweet hoppy taste. Doesn’t taste like 16% but still strong.
