Dark brown color. It has a quite good aroma combination: balanced chocolate, hop, caramel. The flavor is too dry, with strong chocolate and strong bitterness. Too much roasted malts at the end. Not for me.
Tap at Barcade for the 5th Anniversary Party. A new NY brewer? This was the first I’d heard of them. Mildly hoppy, clean, nutty aroma. Brazen and bold. Growler filled at Consumers in Niagara Falls. Deep ruby brown with a beige head. The aroma is sweet and roasty, with chocolate, hazelnut and a hint of smoke. The flavor starts sweet and roasty, with a smoky side that gets stronger as the beer warms. Lighter notes of chocolate and hazelnuts. Very good. En fût. Verre de dégustation chez Wildflower Café (Watkins Glen, NY). Arôme: Légère odeur de céréales griilées et de caramel. Apparence: La couleur est brune opaque. Présence d’un mince col beige mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de céréales grillées avec une pointe de noix et de caramel. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture légèrement onctueuse. Moyenne effervescence en bouche. Légère présence de grillé en arrière goût. (Rating #2032)

The fact that this is a nut brown says it all to me. yes, like others have said, this comes off almost as a porter, it’s thick, it’s rich, it’s got a nuts roasted in chocolate taste with a very smooth finish. On draft at brewpub. Poured deep brown in color with absolutely no head or hint of even one bubble. (even when agitated). Aroma of heavy roast, toffee and chocolate malt. On tap at Wildflower Cafe. Coffee and roasted-burnt malt, caramel and molasses. Mild hop character, even a bit of smoke. Dark brown-black clear with thin off-white head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts with caramel, coffee, and chocolate. Mild bitter grain and some carbonic acidity in the finish. Nutty finish and after. A bit astringent, however. Aroma of chocolate, hint of caramel, deep brown, garnet at the edges, small toffee head. Taste is a chocolate/cola combo, nuty(of course) fine roasted malt notes too. Medium bodied, very well balanced, woody, dry finish. Very enjoyable.
Tap @ Hardware. Brown, thinnish head. Nose is cocoa & nutty malt - dark fruits - sweet plum/fig, smoke. Flavor is brown mant & fruits - some brown sugar. A hint of wood.
