2008 1.5 L bottle shared by thebeercellar2. (i cant spell that fancy wine shit name). Thanks Matt! Pours dark brownish muddy amber with a thick, billowing yellow white head. Nose is super oxidized, paper, brown sugar. Similar flavor. Fun to try, but this beer was a little done for me. jbruner (5026) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - FEB 25, 2013
2008 gigantic bottle thanks to Matt at RBWG! Pours a hazy copper with bubbly khaki head and little to no lacing. Aroma of dark fruits, cherries, and booze. Taste follows with a hint of toffee, but lots of dark fruit. A little too much for me after the 4 hours of drinking done at this point in the day, but I’m sure its great otherwise. mlunger12 (645) - Orlando, Florida, USA - FEB 23, 2013
Magnum bottle at RBWG. Thanks Matt! Sweet, vanilla, oak, brown sugar, pls, cherries... Very nice! b3shine (9027) - Indiana, USA - FEB 23, 2013
Monster bottle to taster at the RBWG Grand Tasting (thanks thebeersommelier). Looks good; a fairly opaque brown with beige lacing. Smells of smoked malt and cherry with a cognac influence that is nice and smooth. Good beer. crossovert (13457) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JAN 27, 2013
Larger bottle. Some spice notes, roasted malt, fruits, caramel, very mcuh a winter warmer.

1.5L bottle at tasting, pours a dark mahogany with a small tan head. Aroma is fairly oxidized with smoked malt, some wood and not much else. Flavour is very sweet, with notes of cognac, cherries, oak and lots of candied sugar. ABV is incredibly well-worked in, with a high complexity. The sweetness is high, but not overly cloying. There is only a hint of oxidation that doesn’t detract. Solid stuff. Theydon_Bois (20225) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - NOV 18, 2012
Bottle @ Frank’s (Ramnuts) tasting, thanks to ??? - 06/11/12. 2008 vintage series #4 bottle #43.
Obscured amber with a mahoooosive off white head.
Nose is dark toffee, dark fruits, prune, figs, dates.
Taste follows nose with sweet caramelised sugar flavour, wood, spice, touch of booze but fairly well integrated for 14%.
Full bodied with soft carbonation leading to a sweet finish. skortila (5967) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - APR 22, 2012
Bottled. The aroma has caramel malts, dried fruits, some grapefruits. Dark brown coloured beer with a big off-white head. The taste is caramel malty, bit roasty, has dark and dried fruitiness, piney hops, some citrus. Big beer. Bit of a DIPA-BW kind of thing. Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 1, 2011
Many thanks to Matt for bringing the bomber.. 2009, #90! Poured murky medium brown with a tall, sticky cap of beige head. The aroma picked up earth and detergenty notes over fruity, bready, and lightly-smoked malts.. lots of sugars going on. The flavor opened with tart fruity and vinegary sugars, with more fruit, caramel, and molasses sugars following.. almost sweet-tart like notes in there too.. finished with Aspartarme-like sugarage and peppery warmth.. never all that tasty. Medium-bodied and sugary on the palate.. not too hot, but not all that tasty. 1FastSTi (3361) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 1, 2011
Thanks Matt for sharing this 2009 vintage. Bottle #90. The beer pours to a deep brown body with a super creamy tan head. Lots of sexy lacing. The aroma is smoky and sweet . Definite sugar like brown sugar and molasses. Walnuts? The flavor is tangy soured smoked malt. Deep grain flavor. The palate is thick and heavy with a sour tang. Alcohol is surprisingly hidden.
