Tap. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is citrusy, phenolic, honey. Taste is citrus hops, Zitronenmelisse, phenolic, honey. Soft velvety mouthfeel with low natural carbonation. Heller Bock like I need it.

My Bottom Line:

Bountiful bread crusts thrust this Heller Bock to world-beater status, as delicate citrus fruit and stone fruit are given even more depth by subtle minerality.

Further Personal Perceptions:

-A creamy head of foam laces atop the hazy blond.

-The mouthfeel is silky smooth.

-There is no alcohol to be tasted here.

-This remains quenching despite the abv.

-Yet another smashing brew from Roppelt! No surprise here.

Bottle from Stephan and Conny. Hazy amber colour lasting white head. Sweetish pale malt aroma with some hop as well. Rather a lovely fruity stone fruit flavour. Sweetish jam Like peach jam . Cold. Good peppery hop finish. Hides abv well. Its delicious . So good.

This rates the 3rd edition (fall of 2015) brew. As common with small Franconian breweries it differs from year to year quite a bit. This one comes close to the traditional Lager or the Fest.. In color quite similar to the Festbier. Wheat in the nose, no fruitiness. As it also tastes so close to the Fest I see it as a little imp. It is much stronger in Alcohol /7.2) but does tell it only on the bottle or after you had 2+ Seidla (local for a half liter Stein) when you stand up.
At the brew pub it is served in a glass Krug. You can take it home in a case of 20 "Schnapper" snap lock half liter bottles. It has a very long finish more on the dry side. Needless to say any Roppelt beer is "süffig".

Draft at the brewery. Clear still gold with a short white head. Clean and malty aroma shows as honey, pale malt, light toast, subtle touches of flowers and lemon. Medium bodied, sweet, sticky, medium-light bitterness, lip-smacking sugary malty profile, crisp in the mouth with a tangy herbal finish. It’s not a profound experience but the beer is cleanly fermented, shows the Franconian mineral water quality well, and the flavor balance is there. A complete contrast to the Festbier this year, which was strongly tainted by diacetyl.

Pours clear golden with a white head and lacings. Nose is sweet. Bread, grain and grass. Sweet flavor with a touch of alcohol.

bottle with many thanks to pivnizub and erlangernick! Golden colour, mid-sized white head. Malty, quite full-bodied with a resiny hoppy touch.

(bottle, many thanks to pivnizub and erlangernick!) pours a hazy deep golden colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of honeymelon and heavy green apple, with a hint of caramel, some straw, herbal hops and earth. flavour is mostly the same, green apple and straw, with little to no sweetness, lots of cereals, some higher alcohols and a medium-bitter finish. heavy-bodied with average carbonation.

Danke an Erlangernick. Heller, wenig süßer Getreideantrunk, ein wenig bitter. Die helle Malzigkeit nimmt zu, spritzig, weiterhin leicht herb. Angenehme Hopfigkeit. 9/10/9/9/10/9

Bottle, danke an Nick via dem Rhein! Golden, fine carbonation, big off-white head. Fresh herbal hops on a light honeyish malt base. Fullbodied, chewy, fruity/berrylike and light honeyish malt base, good broad classic and aromatic hop profile. Spicy cookie finish. Grassy hop aftertaste. Really nice.
