Bottle from Peter Wagner Imkerei, Jugenheim OT Balkhausensaxo (19569) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - DEC 11, 2010
Corked with a traditional cork, of bad quality, that broke; the beekeeper has surely large supplies of wax, nevertheless I wish he didn’t use it to seal the cork.
It pours a light amber color, with many cork particles. The aroma is initially one of the strongest, flowery honey aroma in Mead; then there is acacia honey, wildflower honey, too perfumy for my liking.
The flavor is sweet, but the mouthfeel is lean; there is a strong flavor of common honey and beewax; in the final there is a combination of alcohol and bitterness that is not exactly pleasant, and is probably due to some fermentation mishandling.
Bottle at fonefan tasting. No head. Color is pink. Aroma and taste are honey and alcohol. Nice and warming. chrisv10 (18707) - DENMARK - DEC 11, 2010
Bottle @ FOneFan. Clear golden with no head. Flavour is honing, sweet and marzipan. yngwie (17284) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - MAY 15, 2011
Bottle, 70cl, courtesy of fonefan. A clear, golden mead, quite oily. Lots of honey on the nose, quite perfumed too, and with a good dash of heather and alcohol. A bit more dry and alcoholic flavor than I like, quite a bit actually. Honey, heather and some perfume too. Medium body, dry and warming. Alcoholic honey finish with some flowers. Not bad, but too flowery and perfumed for me. 110128 Benzai (16918) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - SEP 1, 2013
Bottle shared by Fonefan at his place. Clear golden color, no head. Aroma just has honey and sweetness. Taste honey, sweetish and some alcohol and slightly fruity.
