Odd combinations doesn’t mean innovation as this beer proves. Combining a trappist yeast with an IPA just doesn’t work. The esters, residual sweetnes and lack of hop accentuation makes this beer turn out a bit boring and heartless. It’s hard to imagine what the brewer intendended and what he wanted this beer to taste like. There is absolutely no idea behind it. What’s more, it’s undercarbonated and has to much yeast in it (due to the trappist yeast). If this beer should make any reason it should have been fermented at a higher temperature to really bring out the funky flavours... Skinnyviking (9720) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 9, 2006
Bottle. Small white head. Hazy dark orange body. Powerful sweet ginger aroma. Ginger flavor with a nice hops bitterness at the end. Ungstrup (38417) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - SEP 6, 2006
A very hazy dark orange beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is very spicy with ginger standing out together with hops. The flavor is sweet again with strong notes of ginger, combined with grass, leading to a dry bitter end. I wonder if it is the Amarillo hops, that gives it the ginger note?
