Tap or gravity at the brewery. Cloudy brown-orange color with low lace. Doughy chocolate-caramel nose, warm crusty bready and a bit of orange and cherry. Unbelievable malt flavor: crusty bready, chocolate cake, peaches, cherries. Full but not heavy. Almost flat. Lovely. The first impression is positively mind-blowing. After that, simply great. Best dunkel I ever had.

Cloudy/murky with a very evident maltiness which is heavy on the munich malt. Very enjoyable beer falls squarely in the ’sweet dunkle’ style that is brewed in the Franconia region. Very nice beer that is somewhat sessionable. If you’re in the Bamberg area you should stop by the brewery... MartinT (9852) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 1, 2011
My Bottom Line : Grzesiek79 (4276) - Radom, POLAND - FEB 27, 2012
Lightly toasted malts are accompanied by orange-y fruitiness and earthy hops in this levelled quencher.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A creamy head of foam covers the misty amber.
-This is yet another pillowy mouthfeel from Sauer; so comfortable and so drinkable, while avoiding watery thinness.
-Yeast flavors accompany the hops in the finish.
-The fruitiness brings tart edges as well; I’m not sure if this is wanted or not, but it is harmonious with the rest of the flavor profile.
On tap at the brewery gasthof.

Bottle: Chestnut-amber coloured, smaller - lacy - off-white head, a bit hazy; light to moderate caramelly nose, fruity and hoppy aromas around; light to moderate sweet-bitter flavour, soft MF; light caramelly-sweetish finish, balanced by a light hoppiness in the aftertaste. Good franconian quality...... Dedollewaitor (16056) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 24, 2014

örn tasting. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruity, wooden, resiny, floral and mild toasted and earthy notes. Flavour is bready, sweet malty, mild ryelike notes and some earthy and ripe fruity notes.
Light brown color. Deep intense chocolate and pale malts. The mouth shows lots of toast and is very dry, like a German version of a Brown ale, I thought. Well made, just not my first choice of beer. Quack-Duck (9484) - Down South, GERMANY - APR 16, 2010
bottle from Münchberg. Clear brown colour, large off-white head. Woody-sourish nose. Medium-bodied, hints of chocolate and cocoa with woody and slightly fruity hopp flavours.
