UPDATED: DEC 18, 2011 375 ml bottle from the winery. Sampled there and even managed to bring a bottle back to St. Louis. Pours a rich, deep, cloudy purple color with no head. Aroma of blackberry, raspberry, and blueberry with some backing honey sweetness as well. Flavor demonstrates a nice- albeit intense- balance of honey and blackberry flavors along with some oaky, earthy, plum, and raspberry notes. Faint grains. Medium-full bodied, with a smooth, rich, sweet mouthfeel. Much bigger than the other mead on the Island, Honeydew The Golden Drop. I might not always be in the mood for this one but when I had it I was and it absolutely delivered. Re-Rate, 12/18/11: This is even better than my wife and I remembered from our honeymoon visit to Rossignol. Great balance of blackberry fruit and honey sweetness. Nice body for emphasizing the blackberry half so heavily. I need to track down more of this. Great stuff. DuffMan (10667) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 9, 2011
Bottle bought and shared on the Island with the Ludlows after a highly successful day of fishing (mackerel, cod, ocean perch, sculpin, and a single beautiful halibut caught by my eldest son). Pours a viscous intense violet, like a blueberry reduction. Aroma is blackberry jam, that’s all I get. Flavour is sweet blackberry syrup, honey, with a mild seedy dryness. No hint of the ABV. More suitable as a topping for ice cream than as a dessert beverage. Nice flavour, but very one dimensional.

[1237-20080330] Bottle. Fruity blackberry and sweet sugary syrup malt aroma. Clear, dark red wine body with no head. Mildly alcoholic, flavour is mostly blackberry fruit and smooth honey. Medium-full body. Very sweet, definitely a sipper. Enjoyit (3809) - Vadum, DENMARK - APR 9, 2008

Thanx to the Cheeseman, DSnowden for sharing this.Pours out looking like grape juice with a real sweet berry aroma.Mouthfeel was syrupy and sticky.Notes of grapes and berrys with honey.I really want to try pouring this over pancakes.Finish was sticky sweet. juiceisloose (1552) - Windermere, Florida, USA - OCT 7, 2007
Courtesy dsnowden. This was my first mead experience. This poured a deep red color and smelled of dark berries. The blackberry was themost dominant smell. The flavor was much the same with the blackberry really coming through. This didn’t have much honey flavor at all since the blackberries dominated everything. It was really thick and sweet with a big syrupy mouthfeel. This was nice for my first mead, really huge on the flavor. JMFG (1587) - Florida, USA - OCT 6, 2007
Courtesy dsnowden. Deep purple color, no head. Purple grapeskins, plums, and jam on the aroma. Thick mouthfeel, moves slowly in the glass. General grape/berry taste that is extremely sweet. The finish is real sweet and has just a touch of dryness to it, despite all the sweetness.
