Bottle. Clear ruby maroon color, or maybe port wine color. Aroma of lightly dusty blueberries, blackberries, cherries. Taste is sweet, smooth forest berries on a honey background. Very tasty. Oakes (18873) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 27, 2006
Deep purple colour. My mouth was still purple the next morning. Sweet, syrupy blackcurrant character. Very simple, just fruit syrup and hints of alcohol coming in late. BeerandBlues2 (13825) - Escondido, California, USA - DEC 26, 2014
Bottle shared by Travlr. Pours clear purple and still. Aroma is sweet honey and blackberry with light alcohol notes. Flavor is sweet honey and blackberry, light oak with a dry finish. Full body and still. bu11zeye (13215) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - MAY 3, 2012
(375ml bottle, courtesy of Mora2000) Pours a still violet body. Flavor of honey and blackberries. Flavor of blackberries, plum, honey, and earth. jercraigs (10886) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 28, 2006
Bottle. Dark purple-black headless body. Fruity aroma of berries and dark grapes. Very sweet flavour, fruity berries camouflage high octane alcohol sneaking by underneath. You are aware of its passing only after the fact. Pleasant, it is a touch simplistic and overly sweet, risking diabetic inducement at times. Syrupy medium palate coats the glass. Quite pleasant but a bit too sweet to enjoy in more than a small quantity.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2011 375 ml bottle from the winery. Sampled there and even managed to bring a bottle back to St. Louis. Pours a rich, deep, cloudy purple color with no head. Aroma of blackberry, raspberry, and blueberry with some backing honey sweetness as well. Flavor demonstrates a nice- albeit intense- balance of honey and blackberry flavors along with some oaky, earthy, plum, and raspberry notes. Faint grains. Medium-full bodied, with a smooth, rich, sweet mouthfeel. Much bigger than the other mead on the Island, Honeydew The Golden Drop. I might not always be in the mood for this one but when I had it I was and it absolutely delivered. Re-Rate, 12/18/11: This is even better than my wife and I remembered from our honeymoon visit to Rossignol. Great balance of blackberry fruit and honey sweetness. Nice body for emphasizing the blackberry half so heavily. I need to track down more of this. Great stuff. DuffMan (10667) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 9, 2011
Bottle bought and shared on the Island with the Ludlows after a highly successful day of fishing (mackerel, cod, ocean perch, sculpin, and a single beautiful halibut caught by my eldest son). Pours a viscous intense violet, like a blueberry reduction. Aroma is blackberry jam, that’s all I get. Flavour is sweet blackberry syrup, honey, with a mild seedy dryness. No hint of the ABV. More suitable as a topping for ice cream than as a dessert beverage. Nice flavour, but very one dimensional. mabel (9787) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 15, 2008
[1237-20080330] Bottle. Fruity blackberry and sweet sugary syrup malt aroma. Clear, dark red wine body with no head. Mildly alcoholic, flavour is mostly blackberry fruit and smooth honey. Medium-full body. Very sweet, definitely a sipper. BMan1113VR (7929) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAY 29, 2012
Bottle thanks to mora2000. Pours with a merlot hued body with great alcohol legs. Aromas are big time blackberry, tannin, jammy, port, floral honey. Flavors are of honey, sweet, sticky, black berry, floral notes, a touch peppery, medium tannin. Fully sweet, dessert mead. Still, highly viscous. Bottle (375ml). Shared with GregClow and the mysterious Ms. "S", GregClow’s bottle. This is NICE stuff. Poured deep purple/berry-red, very thick looking, no head. Tart cassis berry juice and plenty of sugar in the aroma. Taste is thick and juicy, starts tart, finishes syrupy-sweet - this is very nice, in small amounts - a sweet cordial.
