Had it as Rothaus Märzen (bottle). Golden color with a nice frothy white head. Aroma of bread, fresh grains, a bit grassy. Taste is malty-sweet with some nice bitter/hoppy note. One of the best beer I ever had, how could it have only 37 as rating??? Drinking_77 (118) - Basel, SWITZERLAND - JAN 30, 2016
On pour, nice clear golden yellow colour with a pretty decent sized foamy white head, a good looking beer. Some lacing. Can hear the carbonation as it fizzes away, magic!
Aroma: strong smell of the hops, citrus, very malty, sweet malts
Taste: Sweet grainy maltiness at the start.
Back end taste of the hops was nice.
Felt stronger than the 5.6 for some reason…..
A very subtle taste, has a good balance of malts and hops, quite tasty, nothing amazing but boy was it easy to drink…. Perfect balance in flavour, clean, crisp and very refreshing.
A very easy beer to drink, very sessionable, could drink a lot of these easy enough as it was very smooth. Liked this beer a lot. brewbear (48) - 3096 Oberbalm, SWITZERLAND - JAN 23, 2004

Bottle. Strong grassy hops and light caramel malt aroma. Golden yellow color with small but persistent head. Caramel malt and grass/hay hops flavor. Nicely blended. A spectacular festbier - head and shoulders above other Märzens.

as Marzen. Very golden colour with a fluffy head. Incredibly grassy and floral. Went down well with the wild cheese I had with this. Love this brewery! PalCabral (162) - SWEDEN - NOV 4, 2011
Bottle brought from Darmstadt to me by my lovely wife, thanks Xana. Pours golden, which puts it in the modern category of Märzen, unfortunately. Had hoped for a more traditional type. The head is foamy and stays. The aroma is fresh of grains, very nice. The taste is full, malty and grainy, double decoction brewing? It’s a heavy beer, but very tasty and good backing from the hops in the aftertaste. A bit too carbonated for my taste but a lovely beer.
Guter Stoff!

Good example of a Southern German export marzen. Lots of sweet malt in the aroma and taste, deep golden colour and a hoppy finish that manifests itself after youve drained the glass making you wish you had another bottle in the fridge. Nice label. 500ml bottle at The Rake, 2nd Dec 08 with tashi. Clear amber with a persistent white head. Very strong grain aroma. Definite signature Rothaus aroma and flavour. A simple style done well. Very refreshing and good if you find the Rothaus lager too light.
