COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wheat is an important and typical flavor carrier in this type of beer. As with all other beers we also work at Rothaus Hefeweizen with a slightly higher original gravity of 12.5%.

In addition to the fine hop bitterness (13 bitter units), Rothaus Hefeweizen is typical of the variety, with another important flavor component, the yeast. In Hefeweizen the yeast is not mixed, but a top-fermenting yeast is used. Unlike our other beers, it comes with unfiltered wheat beer bottling.

Ingredients: water, wheat malt, barley malt, hops, hop extract, yeast.

Geruch: Fruchtig, säuerlich. Der Geschmack ist schnell geschildert: Ein wechsel zwischen fruchtig und sauer. Am Ende wird es dann auch noch wässrig - lieber das Eiszäpfle trinken. Test vom 10.10.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,7,6,7,8,7 - 7,00

Big white head. Hazy opaque deep yellow body with strong carbonation. Chalky yoghurty banana aroma with floral spicy notes. Dry-sweet, and faintly acidic, yoghurty banana and oranges taste with chalky notes. Mid-to-full body. Mild, soft mouthfeel with some fizz. Dry oranges and herbs aftertaste. Nice. Unusual, and highly drinkable. (0.5l bottle, beermerchants.com)

On tap at The Red Lion, Oxford. Cloudy gold with big white head. Sweet, sticky whetat beer, fruity spiciness with banana, clove and pear drops, quite heavy on the palate but tasty enough. A decent change.

(bottled @ The Man of Kent. Rochester) ’text book’ Hef in flavours but without the rich depth or flare of Paulaner or Weinhenstephaner. Maybe a tad anti climatic as i really dig their Pilsener . Tart banana.Dry, spicy -then sugary sweet , rather than deep and beefy like in the Hefs I mentioned as a comparison.

500ml Bottle. Pours a relatively clear orange color with some sediment and a huge, cream head. Aroma is dominated by the weizen notes - banana, clove, and some floral elements. Taste is heavy on the banana on the front end but there was a light, herbal hop bitterness that moved into a crisp finish. The palate was the most disappoint part of this beer - was pretty watery, especially for a weizen, and had a fizzy carbonation. For a beer that had a superb taste character, the mouthfeel detracted from the enjoyment a little. But, overall, it was a good weizen from a quality brewer.

DruncanVeasey (8225) - NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - JAN 29, 2011
330ml bottle. Tall, almost fully opaque beer the colour of sliced ginger with a huge billow of foam too big for the weizen. Ripe, estery aroma; banana, clove and Bazooka chews. Full and slippery with an incessant, prickling effervescence and all the pepper, banana and candy cigarette flavours I’m looking for in a weizen. Creamy vanilla and biscuit afters. Top stuff.

Io le weizen le compro e le bevo perchè garbano parecchio a mia moglie, ma le trovo molto simili tra loro, e anche questa mi sembra niente di incredibile. Forse appena meglio di altre.
