COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Medium carbonation, loose white head which dissipates quickly, golden-straw color and clear body. Subtle malty sweetness with notes of biscuits and honey. Finishes fairly dry, but not bitter. Kölsch is a style of its own. Being one of a few native German Ales, it originated in Cologne. Our Kölsch is not entirely traditional due to our use of American grown hops and malt but nonetheless, we challenge you to find a better version of this style ale.

A solid Kolsch a bright fresh citrus orange Aroma , poured, nicely clear and golden . Love the hint of citrus in the taste but most of all it was refreshing. I loved this beer with spicy chicken wings the pairing is highly recommend.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 1/29/2014. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy bright gold color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, toast, biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of pale malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, biscuit, toast, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, cracker, biscuit, toast, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and robustness of pale malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice kolsch style! All around good balance and robustness of pale malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

750ml corked bottle and served in a pils glass: Clean golden hue with a lasting frothy head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of grassy noble hops, pale biscuity malts, hint of apple ester, slightly husky as well. The taste is a clean moderate bitterness and soft grains. Light acidity and some pepper throughout. The mouth feel is refreshing and sprite with a mostly clean aftertaste. A nice surprise indeed and very much spot on for the style.

750 from Michigan gents @ DLD 09. Pours a foamy straw yellow with fluffy white head. Smells light, yeasty, slight fruit esters, and a tiny bit of acidity. Taste is light, creamy, crisp, refreshing. I’m not big on this style at all, but this is extremely well done and flavorful.

Sample at Round Barn brewery. smells light oak, fruit, floral bite, not too hoppy. Appearance is yellow hue with lace. Slightly fruity, full mouth feel, carbonated medium. Great session brew. Easily drink a 6 pack on a nice, Summer day.

Bottle: The aroma consists of light citrus/orange, faint grain, and a hint of grass. It pours a mostly transparent golden-orange with a touch of haze from some very fine sediment. It has a one finger yellow-tinged off-white head that settles fairly quickly to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. There is some thin webbing left behind on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with light-moderate citrus notes. It finishes lightly grassy with a touch of floral notes. It’s light bodied with light-moderate carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, it’s probably not something most will get excited for, but I think it’s pretty solid and would be a good summer thirst quencher.
