Numerous sample via draft over the past month. Midnight brown, medium bodied, coffee, chocolate flavors and aroma blend nicely with the citrus hops. Enjoyable Black IPA.
12oz can from WineWorks (Marlton). Overflowed out of the can. Poured an entire glass of tan foam. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, light citrus, and plastic. Taste of sour fruit, chocolate, burnt malts, and vinegar. Pretty sure this in infected. BillWyce (1104) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 16, 2014
Pretty much exploded out of the can. When the massive tan head (took up about 90% of a pint glass) dropped off some, the clear cola brown-to-black color became evident. Aromas of dark-roasted coffee with a touch of citrus. Medium body, lightly oily, with a mildly dry finish. Flavor of coffee with a light char, and a note of citrus hops underneath. closey22 (2105) - Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, USA - AUG 5, 2014

12oz can from Spirits Rt 166. This is a black IPA?? Smells and tastes more like a black saison. Smell and taste is floral and spicy, dark toast, sugary dark chocolate. Medium body, fizzy carbonation, lingering aftertaste that starts sweet and fades to roastiness. Not digging it. gunnfryd (15290) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - APR 21, 2014

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, grapefruit, pine, light licorice. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, coffee - dark roasted, hoppy, grapefruit - citrus, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
Can from Canal’s. Pours out a cola color with a moderate tan head. Aroma is of nice citrusy zesty hops, toasted malts, light chocolate and some mild coffee. Taste is some toasted malts, citrusy hops, grapefruit, chocolate, medium roast coffee. Hops were a little more muted in the taste than the aroma, but none the less a decent BIPA. yngwie (17234) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JAN 18, 2014
A murky brown beer with a small, dense, beige head. The aroma has piney, resiny hops and a roasted maltyness. Some chocolate. The flavor is too much on the chocolate side, with roasted malts. Some bitterness and a pleasant piney touch. Rather phenolic and lighlty alcoholic too. Full body and a pleasant carbonation level. Seems pretty nice at first this one, but I can’t say I’m impressed. It’s sort of messy. 140118 saxo (19522) - Højbjerg, Aarhus, DENMARK - JAN 18, 2014
