on tap at the brewpub in Philly - (on nitro) nice dark brown color. Slightly sweet flavor. Nice and creamy - stout-like. lavaaaron (128) - - JUL 3, 2017
Really loved this German style dark beer. The subtle smokiness is pleasant and not overpowering. Very malty flavor with hint of sweetness that follows the smoke and reminds me of a good BBQ.

Tap at Frisco. Mellow medium body. Malty. Not super overboard with the smoke, but certainly present. Deep chocolate, roasty tones. A little soft with the carbonation. Straightforward, dunkel-rauch. OK. Beerdedone (3480) - Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 23, 2016

Sampled from the tap at Black Squirrel. Pours a clear brown with a slight amber hue and a tan head that lasts throughout the beer and laces slightly. Aroma has a nice light smoke and some roasted malts with a bread backbone. Flavor has light roasted malts and smoke throughout with a light sweetness. Draft at Black Squirrel. Black color, tan head. Aroma of campfire. Taste is burnt brownies. Nejhleader (1574) - Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 25, 2016
has a smoked, slight bologna aroma. A smooth body with a nice slight chocolate malt taste. not bad. NikkTwist (3406) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 14, 2015
Draft at Eulogy. Black pour with some lasting soft tan foam. Roasted malts with some smoke in the finish. Medium body. Mild notes of molasses, coffee, liquorice, chocolate and dark fruits. Mostly just feels roasty. The smokiness is not hidden - but also not aggressive. Not extraordinary, but very nicely balanced. rumproasts (6052) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - NOV 17, 2014
bottle. near black with small head. smoked malt with a bit of sweetness. this isn’t a style i dig at all, but it’s not bad either.
