Royal Strong Ale is a bottom-fermented lager and therefore belong to the category lager, ale and not as the name suggests. The aroma is light caramel and a little hop. The taste is like a good lager should be: light caramel malt, stronger body with alcohol as a leading factor. Hop bitterness is marked, but alcohol is the pervasive theme of this lager. Its richness leaves little malt sweetness (thankfully) and it is basically a very nice lager. Wolfbass (1166) - Firenze, ITALY - SEP 11, 2015
Mi è capitata in mano per caso, e devo dire che dopo due sorsi è finita nel lavandino... Pyrmir (6082) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - JUL 23, 2013
500 ml can. Dark golden with white head. Aroma alcoholic, grain, malt and bitter hops. Taste follows, finish with lots of alcohol and bitterness Bamsen78 (5400) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - MAY 25, 2013
Can. Pours clear pale golden with airy white head. Clear aroma of skunk and hops. Aggressively bitter, hoppy taste, followed by massive booze attack, ending slightly grainy and sweetish. Not my type, but even withon the style, nothing worth recommending. ken1 (2003) - DENMARK - MAY 13, 2013
A sweet fruity flavor with an alchoholic aftertaste. Dark amber in color with a white head.

500 ml can, bought in Denmark. ABV is 7.7%. Medium deep golden colour, large coarse head, rapidly diminishing. Sweetish aroma, notes of alcohol, candy and fudge. Sweet flavour, notes of candy, alcohol and caramel, not sufficiently balanced with hops. No masterpiece this one. OleR (4804) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 31, 2012
0.5 L can from Superbrugsen, Samsø. Body is crystal clear, pale pilsner golden. Fully diminishing greyish-blond head. Sweet alcohol aroma with notes of cereals and dusty hops. Sweet-flavored, but not overly sweet as feared. Fairly clean malt flavor. Faint earthy bitterness. Alcohol is noticable. Quite sharp on the palate. Medium full. Sweet ending. Drinkable. Not very ale-ish though. DeanF (2456) - Alberta, CANADA - AUG 25, 2012
Moderately strong aroma of cardboard with a hint of lemon. Okay dark sweet lager, yellow-gold body with minimal head. Flavour is heavy on the lemon with a hint of dry malt. Finishes dry. Okay strong ale, which isn’t saying much.
