22oz bottle. Rating #19. Thick, dark black pour with light brown head and some decent lacing. Nice light roast aroma, light fruits as well, very mild and very pleasant. Modetate bitterness and more light roast with a nice hoppy aftertaste. Pretty tasty stuff. (2262) dwyerpg (6055) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - FEB 29, 2012
A pretty solid initial aroma and flavor, reminiscent of an Imperial Stout. The flavor is where you first get the hops. It starts out with the heaviness of a stout as well, but the finish is more bitter and lighter. A pretty good beer, esp. for only 6.5% bb (9241) - Alamo, California, USA - FEB 20, 2012
Bottle. Blackish beer witha brown head. Malt and grapefruit aroma with light chocolate and dust. Grapefruit and pine lingers with malt and light chocolate. Medium bodied. Grapefruit and pine lingers with light chocolate and light dirt. J_man (996) - Tustin, California, USA - FEB 4, 2012
Pours black as night with a beautiful garnet tinge under a bright light. Topped with a rocky, foamy medium tan head, the aromas are charred wood and chocolate with a bit of a vegetal note. Those follow through in the taste with a touch of molasses and licorice. The body is quite dry with a bitterness that seems partly hops and partly charred grain. A citrus/grapefruit bitterness finally reveals itself as the beer warms. Washes out nice and dry with residual char and light bittersweet chocolate. The alcohol is on the light side for a Black IPA, but the way this is constructed it is perfectly appropriate. Very tasty! Sledutah (7487) - Utah, USA - JAN 28, 2012

Aroma: Roasted malts, caramel and chocolate
Taste: Roasted malts, chocolate and piney
bottle from total wine. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Flavor is heavy on chocolate. A bit earthy and piney. reminds more of a hoppy porter. Oscbert (1296) - Lincoln, California, USA - JAN 18, 2012
~Resinous piney hop aroma with chocolate and roast in background.
~Pours black with small creamy brown lasting head.
~More roast in flavor than in aroma. Roasty, slightly burnt malty flavor, tar and tobacco, with big backbone of piney resinous hops.
~Full to medium bodied with med low CO2, some astringency, lasting burnt and resinous tar finish.
~Not my favorite style of beer, but this one was enjoyable. Could only drink one. JohnnyJ (5545) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 6, 2012

Bottle. Black color/ lasting tan head. Pine, floral, dry chocolate aromas. Light to medium bodied. Dry black malt, semi sweet chocolate flavors with pine, caramel. Drying bitter finish--decent. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - DEC 13, 2011
Bottle; poured a black color with a huge enormous head. LIngered forever. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, cocoa, earthy hops. As these hybrids go, the flavor initially impressed me in the subtleties. A nice balanced between the roasted and hoppy notes.
