COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
First brewed in 2008 for batch # 3,000. This is our version of a Double India Pale Ale. This year we used almost 900 lbs of English pale malt, and over 40 lbs of hops in a 10 barrel batch. A nice golden color with aromas of pine, citrus and some earthy spicy notes. This is what hop lovers dream about. Get hopped up on the sauce.!

Pour is a murky orange with a small white head. Aroma is a nice resin hop with some caramel malt sweetness in he backround. Flavor is more hops with an almost black bread like malt bringing things up. The English pale malt I guess? Really a different malt bill to this one. Still, if your going to call your beer hopsauce it better be pretty damn hoppy and this fits the bill.

Nice deep and hazy copper and light amber coloured body with a very thin off-white head. Aroma of alcohol, pine, citrus, grapefruit, resin and way more pungent hops - nice. Full-bodied; Deep resinous and piney hop flavours with a good deal of alcohol, some light earth, a hint of pepper and spice and a good rich malt body to finish it off. Aftertaste shows a whole bunch of bitter and dank hops, some lighter alcohol notes and a little sweetness as well. Overall, a nice imperial IPA with a very rich flavour and a ton of hops. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 20-November-2014 for US$3,99 sampled at home in Washington on 20-December-2014.

12 oz bottle from Southern Season The ale poured a clear light amber with a small head and no lacing. The light aroma of pine and citrus greet you. The D/IPA had very deceptive alcohol. As you finish the ale you begin to feel the warmth of the beverage. The medium body D/IPA had average carbonation. The finish had a nice crispness with grapefruit and pine lingering in the upper mouth.

Small taster from a bottle at a San Francisco beer festival. Wasn’t impressed by this, it didn’t taste like an IPA, and wasn’t really that nice any other regard.

"this review is for cask conditioned Hop Sauce: mellowed nicely, although still one of the liveliest IIPAs at Hoptoberfest. Great, great flavor, the body has thinned out a bit but is quite smooth and goes down nice n’ easy. dark and murky for the style, with a hop forward aroma and flavor while maintaining balance. very good. quite good on tap (no cask) as well. slightly better cask, with many of the same attributes, just smoother.

Tap at Jernigan’s last night. Gotta love those random tries and surprises when they’re this good. Great malted up hoppy cray DIPA.

Boyle. Slightly hazy amber color with medium thin foamy head and very little lacing. Smells piney, resiny, pithy with a hint of peach. Nice bitter flavor, very little sweetness. Not harsh at all but nice long bitter finish.
