Pailhead (6543) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - AUG 19, 2014
Bottle: The aroma consists of light fruit, florals, faint caramel, and herbal notes. It pours a mostly transparent golden-orange with a two finger orange tinted off-white head that eventually fades to a thin film. The is some sporadic soapy lacing. The flavor starts with light-moderate citrus, light fruit, and a hint of caramel. The finish has moderate-heavy grapefruit, pine, and light florals. Overall, one of the few Arizona bottled IPA/IIPAs (most tap versions have been great) that isn’t overloaded with caramel and toffee. nimbleprop (8750) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - AUG 8, 2014
4oz pours a murky orange some sudsy head. Nose is piney, orange, grapefruit, pithy. Flavor is very pithy, sweet, soap. Soapy finish. daleharshman (1073) - Escondido, California, USA - AUG 4, 2014
Bomber purchased at Distillers Outlet in Poway ($5.99). Pours a cloudy sunset-orange hue with some yeastie-floaties and an inexplicably massive five-finger layer of white foam that only slowly recedes. AROMA of soapy hops, spicy yeast, broken pine needles, and some floral hops. FLAVOR of resinous pine sap, grapefruit and other bright citrus, earthy hops, and a little tropical fruitiness. Finishes quite bitter, but with a hint of malty sweetness at the very end. Alcohol is well concealed. Pretty good DIPA, especially for the price. Flaske: Orange helt uklar øl. Duft af let kattepis, citus og alkohol. Smagen er alkohol og cascade humle domineret. Ok øl men ikke mere Homer321 (5190) - Melboring, Florida, USA - JUL 12, 2014
Draft. Pour is a very hazy orange/yellow with a medium sized white head, very rocky. Nose is earthy and dirty hops, like a fuggles/EKG thing. Some weird yeasty aroma too. Taste is an oddly burnt hop bitterness. Very grassy and just short of astringent. Also has a soapy taste to it. Mediocre.
Wittales (884) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - JUL 5, 2014
Appearance was cloudy orange gold with lasting creamy off white 2 finger head, rings of lacing. Aromas are soft Marris malt sweetness, orange marmalade, grapefruit, pine with hints of alcohol. Taste burst of grapefruit, orange, lime, lemon, pine hops. Malt middle sweetness with some burn of alcohol and pine resin end. Palate was soft smooth creamy CO2 with medium body, then lasting slightly unbalanced off finish. A good effort, but needs more fruity hops and back off the pine(Simcoe). commonmac (1337) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 5, 2014
Tap poured into bowling pin glass at Happy Gnome. Visually attractive double IPA. A deep orange hue with pretty good lacing. Taste is in the standard double IPA league. Enjoyable with emphasis on malty sweet but some good hop quality. Finish is a little too bitter and mouthfeel slightly thin. Two things it can probably work on. Aftertaste lingers. There are better options in this style. madchemist83 (272) - USA - JUN 30, 2014
Aromas of hops, pine and subtle alcohol. Pours clear copper with white head that dissipates too quickly. Tastes too bitter which makes hard to distinguish the palate. Still pretty smooth for 8.2%. Overall alright beer but there are so many more better hopped ipas out there. joet (2662) - Wilsonville, Oregon, USA - JUN 26, 2014
Very astringent very piney bitter lightly vegetal. Tangy sweet. Broccoli. Wet and soft. Not a bad beer. drsordr (2861) - Loveland, Ohio, USA - JUN 20, 2014
Draft pour avg dark gold. Nose dank hop with underlying smell of perm fluid. Taste bitter up front with slight chemical again. Some dank and pine hop if I search hard. Not very pleasing today.
