"this is one of the tastier spring selections at the Rubicon pub in Sac. Aromatic malty but balanced goodness with a nice full mouthfeel without being heavy. Earthy hops and slightly sweet malt flavor. Good stuff." brokensail (16633) - Dublin, California, USA - JUL 16, 2013
On tap @ Brix Sunset Beach. Was hoping this would actually be purple, but it’s merely amber. Smells of caramel, sugar, and fruity esters. Pear, grape, honey, and grain. Light herbal and floral hops. The flavor is sweet and sugary. Honey, grain, and caramel. Some hints of fruit, light hops, and grape. Meh. hellbilly (3247) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - JUL 30, 2012

Draught. Arbitrary score 4/5 for Appearance, as nighttime conditions prevented correct assessment. Bit spicy nose, sweetish, clove-y. Sweetish-bitterish taste, again a yeasty-spicy finish. Good balance, but rather dull flavour. Medium carbonated, medium bodied, tad falling flat. Technically speaking one, but one very dull Maibock. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - JUN 4, 2011
On tap at the brewpub. It pours golden with an off white head. The aroma is a little sweet and malty with some caramel and a good dose of noble hops for balance. The flavor is well balanced as well with a slightly noticeable alcohol kick. The body was full, and I really enjoyed the malt character on this one. Nice job.

Tap @ Hamilton’s Tavern. Pours a mostly clear medium amber color with a small off white head. Some roasted malts, cereal grains and a touch of hops. bb (9697) - Alamo, California, USA - JUN 4, 2010
Draft. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Honey and light malt aroma. Honey and malt flavor with light spice. Medium bodied. Honey and malt lingers with light spice. bhensonb (15601) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 8, 2010
Tap at the brewpub. Pours darkish amber with a white smear for head. Light caramel and mild fruit aromas. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is quite caramel with a somewhat bitter fruitiness. That purple is making me think a hint of concord grape. A bit unusual. Finishes more bitter than not. beersearcher (2382) - Glendale, California, USA - NOV 5, 2009
Not very bold. Flavors are muted. Not much aroma. Solid but not my favorite style. marcus (10560) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 5, 2009
On tap at the brewery. This copper ale poured with a thin beige head and a floral aroma. There is a strong caramel malt base with some carbonated hoppiness. It’s slightly harsh but still drinkable.
