Dark, amber with almost no head. Not so much hops, more sweet, syrup taste. Seems more like barley wine. Solid beer but definitely mis-named. Cbuk1013 (247) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - JUN 18, 2013
I really expected more from this beer. If you’re going to call it Hoptimus Prime...you best bring it. Although, maybe, it’s a Decepticon??? Bendrixian (1514) - Canadiana, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 11, 2013
Hazy orange colour. Pine cone and esters on the aroma with a yeasty and paint thinner quality. Once this beer opens up those yeasty notes give way to a citrus explosion. similar on the palate, citrus bomb and malts balance each other out alot once this beer opens up. finishes hot and tropical. NICE!

22oz. Pours hazy orange/amber with average head. So yeasty! Banana all over the place with underlying citrus fruit, oranges, pineapple. Just gets more and more tropical. The palate is quite tropical as well. Tasty and interesting. otakuden (1783) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - MAY 29, 2013
Blood orange under a thin pithy head which swirls with spotty lace and a foamy pithy head.

Mild at first, but quickly opens up to reveal spicy stewed stone fruits the likes of peaches and apricots. Key lime and lemon lime along the sides – fresh and zesty. Melba and flatbread cracker crunch underneath. Sticky hop resins in the middle.
Not as heavy as expected given the richness of flavors. Sweet up front with hop resins, peach, apricot, and orange oils. A long lingering bitterness in the back speaks of key lime and orange pith. Orange honey along the edges and on the lips. Quaff and repeat.
A solid sticky juicy Imperial IPA that had flavor but lacked depth and complexity despite its cool label and pop culture references. Good but not great.

26 may 2013, bottle. Light orange, clear, steady bubbles. Nose is orange and grapefruit. Med body and moderately fizzy. Sweet oranges, bitter grass, some white raisin. Decent.

Nice dark amber color with a minimal head. Moderate amount of carbonation. Obviously heavy on hops and some hints of citrus, otherwise not particularly complex. Enjoyable nonetheless and a good example of an IPA but not much else going on here. jercraigs (10374) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 20, 2013
2013-05-18. Dark amber body with a nice beige head. 3++ Sweet malty aroma with interesting hop overtones, resin, green leafy hops. 7+ Flavour is similar, nice malty core, caramel notes, moderate alcohol, resiny leafy hops. 7+ Smooth average plus bodied palate. 3+ Enjoyable, bigger than anticipated - I didn’t realize how strong it was. Needs just a touch more Leadership Matrix. Bottle via trade with Ferris adeezhop (42) - port jeff sta, Alabama, USA - MAY 13, 2013
I think that with a name like hoptimus prime it should be more of a pronounced hoppier taste. The malt over powers the hops in my opinion. That said although this imo is not a good representation of a dipa it is still enjoyable. The alcohol is hidden well and it is pretty sessionable and refreshing. Not my style as far as double ipa is concerned but tastey jtclockwork (16581) - , New Jersey, USA - APR 29, 2013
Bottle. Pours orange gold. Nose and taste of perfumy hops, caramel malt, grass, alcohol soaked citrus and orange peel. Slightly spicy malt. Medium body. Finishes bitter orange/slight resin.
