Can has been 4.3% since at least 2014
Ingredients: Pale Malt; Goldings, Challenger & Bramling Cross hops.
Originally brewed in the Ruddles brewery in Oakham, Leicestershire (Rutland); moved in 1997 to the Morland brewery in Abingdon, Oxfordshire; finally moved in 2000 to the Greene King brewery in Bury St Edmunds.
Bottles have been sterile filtered since May 2006.

An English Ale with a distinctive flavour of dark toffee and caramel combined with a crisp bitterness derived from using rare Bramling Cross hops. Tropical and berry fruits from the mix of hops, in particular the rare Bramling Cross which adds black and redcurrants. Challenger in the boiling copper gives robust bitterness and this is balanced by the sweetness from the pale and crystal malts.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2015 Bottle, bonfire and some sausage. Pours as it looks in the totally transparent bottle with a decent head. Aroma of grain which is a bit of a surprise because I expected caramel notes. Anyway, some esters show up as well. Taste is much better with a very decent caramel, sweet apples or strawberries. Then comes the bitterness, herbal, reasonably strong, really nice. Some wood notes in the aftertaste can be found as well, or maybe it was just my bonfire messing up a bit. A really good everyday beer which in the conditions mentioned above proves itself well.

Pours clear amber with small white head. Faint aroma of butter, toffee and berries. Medium carbonation, rather low body. Medium bitterness. Nothing special.

Aromat toffi, estry owocowe, ziołowość. W smaku toffi, wytrawna karmelowość i słodowość. Goryczka spora, ziołowa, lekko kwaskowa. Piwo rześkie, wytrawne, niskie wysycenie. W posmaku drewniana nuta, a także lekko waniliowa.

Barwa miedziana, klarowna. Piana biała, średniej wysokości, nawet całkiem trwała. W aromacie lekki karmel, ziołowość, taka dosyć typowa słodowość, ale generalnie nienajgorszy. W smaku trochę herbata, słodowość skontrowana dość dobrą goryczką, wyczuwalne nuty karmelu, ził i owocw.

Amber color clear beer, over 1 finger of white head with medium and big bobbles. Aroma: fruit esters, caramel, diacetyl. Not bad. Taste: light sour, light to med lingering bitterness. Palate: light to medium body, light to med saturation. Overall: average beer. Easy to drink and easy to forget. This lingering bitterness makes it not drinkable enough though.

Aromat zdecydowanie karmelowy, wpadający wręcz w toffi, w tle lekkie czerwone owoce i chmiel (zdecydowanie ziołowe nuty) W smaku dość wytrawne, lekko słodowe w kontrze, goryczka średnio-niska, ziołowa i bardzo przyjemna. Szczerze - jestem zaskoczony, niby nic wielkiego, niby piwo korporacyjne, a jest bardzo smacznie i pijalnie. Po prostu dobre piwo !

50 cl. [email protected] in English Pint [email protected] 15 degreesC. Pours deep golden with one finger head. Well balanced aroma with both fruity hop, grass, bread and caramel malt. Taste does not quite live up to aroma with a touch of metallic disturbing the classic British bitterness. Bitterness also quite dominating also in the quite dry aftertaste. Somewhat watery texture with soft carbonation. OK British bitter, but could do without the metallic twang which thankfully evaporates after about half of the pint.
