BBF2010 darkest rubybrown colour . Jasmin washing powder and musk in the nose. Quite mild taste but it’s very quaffable. Bit too bitter in the end but not too bad. Average obadiah99 (1) - ENGLAND - DEC 23, 2009 does not count
Bottle. Very fruity on the nose, dark, semi-opaque in the glass. Considerably more body than I expected for a mild, and with good slightly spicy fruit flavour and decent length. wheresthepath (2333) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - DEC 4, 2009
[Cask at Back of Beyond, Reading] So, champion beer of Britain eh? That’s some reputation to live up to. It all looks good at first - it pours a deep ruby-brown with a small beige head. The aroma is of cough mixture and coffee. Quite a smooth, rich mouthfeel. The flavour is at first of chocolate and ribena and all seems OK. But then pear drops and cough mixture rear their heads and it all goes a bit ugly. Although there is a touch of dusty bitterness in the finish, the cough mixture and pear drops made this too sweet and sickly for me - I enjoyed the first mouthful, but enjoyed each subsequent gulp less and less. Lots of flavour certainly, but the balance between those flavours is just not championship standard. Plovmand (8304) - Helsinge, DENMARK - NOV 28, 2009
Bottle. Dark reddish brown with a medium off white head. The aroma is light roasted, fruity with notes of ripe fruit like raisins. Flavour is light roasty with some chocolate and fruit. Quite nice.
