Cask at Pilgrims Progress (JDW), Bedford. 4.8% ABV. Translucent ruby brown, respectable amount of beige head.Light fruity chestnut aroma. Fantastic taste: sweet, with berries, figs and nutty malt in the finish. Light palette. Fair play to Rudgate, this is a ruddy good Christmas ale.

Cask. 27th December, JDW spoons, Chelmsford. Standard bitter appeaeance. Glowing red and brown with white lacing. Aroma is very subtle. Dough, hey, grass, some butterscotch and toffee. Taste is chestnuts, roasted malts, wood, raisins, Wild berry. Astringency and not a fan of the yeast. Very watery and a pretty average bitter. Well made but really nothing to write home

Cask at The Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford. Poured a clear copper colour, with a dense white head. Aroma of berries, dried fruit and grain. Malty flavour, with caramel and a little grassy hop bitterness. Finish was toffee, biscuit and light spice.
