20th Dec 2014: half-pint cask, The Crown Inn Oakengates. Poured a deep black with a good tanned blanket of foam on top. Chocolate all the way with this brew, very pleasant and semi-sweet from the start, chocolate maltiness and not much else, but I really liked it. Bottle from Booths Penrith. Pours a fairly thick black. Slightly rubbery aroma, the chocolate comes through quite well and the body is smooth and full. The roast malt lurks subtly in the background throughout, but becomes more obvious on the tongue late on. Really good. Rune (13642) - Tromsø, NORWAY - AUG 1, 2014
Cask, third pint at Mr Foley’s in Leeds. Creamy, tan-coloured head blanketing the glass. Almost black in body appearance. Caramel and liquorice on the nose, semi-dry. Dark chocolate, wood and caramel flavours. Soft on the swallow. Appreciated (08.07.2014). bierocker (32) - North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 7, 2014
Brownish black with a white head. Aroma of roasted malts. Taste of malts and a hint of coffee. Nice stout but not much chocolate. Beese (3260) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 29, 2014
Cask at The Falcon, Battersea on 29 March 2013. Poured black, with a thin, but dense tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, treacle and burnt sugar. Good, full mouth feel. Dark chocolate flavour, with some sticky fruit and coffee. Finish was burnt malt, cocoa and molasses.

o,5l fles meegebracht uit York. Donker bruin, met een beperkte witte kraag. Aroma is duidelijk cacao met geroosterde mout op de achtergrond. Smaak is mooi bitter, mondgevoel is tikkeltje dun, nasmaak is redelijk vol. Mjp12 (2070) - York, North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 23, 2014
On draught at beer festival. Luxurious stout, with a great chocolate finish, would have liked it a little cooler. Would like to try a bottle. downender (8928) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - MAR 3, 2014
Cask-conditioned at the Gryphon, Bristol 1/3/2014. Jet black with a slight, off-white head. Big chocolate notes throughout, some toastiness and a dryish finish. Very good. s_hartshorne (2815) - wakefield, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 15, 2014
Bottle bier huis ossett. Black colour no head. Aroma slight chocolate and roasted malts. Taste is similar. Good body soft carbonation. Ok but would have liked a lot more chocolate hence the name! ManVsBeer (10967) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - JAN 21, 2014
Bottle from Booths. Very dark, no head. Has lots of chocolate malt in the nose and a light smattering in its taste, all in a fine body.
