Nice wine-like aroma with floral and fruit tones in the aroma. Beautiful dark color, nice head. Deep complex taste. Good. Had on tap in the town where brewed. Very fresh. Who knows if it travels well. beaconstreet (811) - Washington DC, USA - AUG 24, 2004
I remember this as heavy and almost sweet, with heavy grain notes. But a wonderful round at the end of a day of backpacking. Had this in the town it was brewed, Interlaken. Aubrey (3516) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - DEC 10, 2006
Just came across these notes from my Swiss trip last fall ... Brown color with a reddish tint. Frothy beige head. Lively carbonation and a lightish texture. Roasty and toasty, with nice notes of nuts, tobacco and toffee. Some bitterness surfaced in the finish. Decent, easy-to-drink brew. roflorence (109) - South Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUN 23, 2017
Dark brown colour poured from the bottle with a short tan head. Caramel and toffee malt on the nose. Sweet malt on be palate with more caramel and a hint of nuts. Low carbonation. punklawyer (100) - USA - FEB 14, 2004
Very middle of the road European. Had this one in Switzerland and it produced a thick head with nice color. It was a bit flat and bitter for me but I understand those are the same qualities that some people want.

Much better than the premium lager. It pours nicely into a proper chilled glass and has a dark brown appearance. It leaves a nice frothy head on top. Beer goes down smooth and flavors are packed full of hops and spices. Worth a try. berkshirejohn (6502) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - OCT 1, 2012
33cl bottle at Schynige Platte, switzerland.<?i> Deep caramel in colour with a billowing white head; malt aroma; dry with a nutty caramel flavour. Rather good. ricardowess (25) - Sedona, Arizona, USA - OCT 5, 2004
Rugie Dunkel is the way to go - easy to find in the Berner Oberland - bomber bottles occasionally tap. Pours dark- very little head, roasted malts, finishes very sweet. Can drink a few of these after a long day... labologist (56) - Disley, Cheshire, ENGLAND - AUG 14, 2006
A typical Dunkles in the Bavarian style.
Malty with a low hop rate but very ’moorish’ Sweet Finish JorgeLee (2117) - Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 9, 2012
Sampled in a sip from Lakshmi’s beer, in a restaurant in Lautenbrunnen. Good dark colour, quite carbonated, thin off-white head. Malty aroma, rye bread, biscuits, malt, some slightly earthy hop in the finish. A good dunkel.
