didn’t know this was retired, and didn’t see a date. Seems older than is ideal, but not completely stale either. Decent beer, definitely overpriced as is much of what Ruhstaller puts out. Crystal malt up front, which is still nice. Hops seem to be faded. Lightly aromatic and bitter. fonefan (49343) - VestJylland, DENMARK - MAY 6, 2015

[ As Ruhstaller 1881 ].
Clear medium amber orange color with a average, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, toffee. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, pale malt, caramel notes, toffee notes, nutty notes. Body is medium to light, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft.
Bomber. A huge head flows up from the bottle even after a couple of pours. The foam is golden tinted and very light and fluffy. Sticky dry lacing. A clear amber beer. A grainy and fruit aroma. The flavor is malts and grains to begin. It is a softer flavor. Hops are light and fruity. Very little bitterness. This is pretty much to style but it is just not a favored style of mine. jredmond (8285) - New York, New York, USA - DEC 24, 2014

Bottle. Dark amber brown beer with a strong head. The aroma is lightly roasted, malty and hopped. The flavour is quite roasted and chocolatey with plenty of hops and bitterness at the finish. Overall a nice dark hopped and roasted beer.
