3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black-brown but clear with some very dark ruby highlights when held up to a light. Very small head dissipates quickly but leaves some decent lacing. Aroma is excellently balanced between hops and chocolatey malt, though both are fairly subtle. Up front flavors are toasty-malty-lightly sweet and grapefruity-pine. Finish is appropriately bitter but it’s a nice, balanced bitterness between the chocolate malt astringency and hop bitterness. Body is light-medium and carbonation is slightly low, which is great for the balance of this beer and lends a certain creaminess to it. Overall a very nicely crafted black IPA.
Can @ Doctors Orders. Pours black with tan cream top.. Aroma has dark malts with some citrus and pine hops peeping through. Taste is lightly sweet, medium bitter and very smooth. Palate medium to light, soft to average carbonation (a can after all), finish is slightly sweet and the feel is oily. Overall a very pleasant IPA in an equally pleasant micro pub that could have tumble grass blowing through, it's so quiet for Saturday afternoon. jake65 (3986) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - SEP 10, 2017
Bottle. Dark brown pour with a thick creamy brown cap. The aroma is a mild roast with light citrus hops. Tastes sweeter than expected, modest roast, and faint bitters. Has some citrus juiciness, but relatively light in the hops department. I love a good CDA, but this is pretty mediocre. DruncanVeasey (8260) - Nr NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - FEB 28, 2017
Can from BottleDog, January 2016. Very nearly pitch capped densely with a slightly undulating off white foam. Aroma of dark sauces; soy, oyster, Worcester, some plummy yeast, soapy hop and cinder toffee. Restrained soapy and floral hop, sultana fruit, malt loaf. Not much happening on the roasted front. Weirdly more like an IPA than many US IPAs because it actually eschews soggy malt sweetness in favour of hop. Hints of peach, pine, liquorice and Soothers. OK. andrepintado (3613) - Porto, PORTUGAL - FEB 6, 2017

Can at home. Aroma is fruity hops, dark malt, slight roast, pine resin, caramel, some citrus and cocoa. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate to medium bitter. Medium bodied. Not as roasty of fruity as most BIPA, but piney hops instead. Nice. anders37 (26878) - Malmö, SWEDEN - APR 6, 2016
Can. Pours a dark brown color with a small tan head. Has a fruity malty slightly roasted hoppy caramel aroma. Roasted malty caramel hoppy flavor. Has a slightly roasted malty hoppy bitter caramel finish. Werckmeister (3285) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - FEB 18, 2016
0,355l can at home. No obvious BB date. almost black color, small tan head. smells quite nice fruity / herbal, grapefruit, grass, light notes of mango, very light sweetness, some earthy notes, lovely fresh smell. full body, light carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of grapefruit, a bit citric, lemon grass, light notes of licorice, spices, quite a bit of grass. finishes rather fruity and only very light bitter with notes of grapefruit, lemon grass and a very light sweetness. quite lovely beer, taste is rather light especially considering the ABV, but this makes it easily drinkable. also not overly complex but still quiet enjoyable. finish gets a bit boring when warm.
