COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
“The Sauce” is the second collaboration beer Old Soul has produced with Ruhstaller. The Kenyan, released earlier this year, sold out quickly and left fans anticipating the pair’s next project. The Sauce is a porter style beer brewed with award winning beans from the famed Los Lajones Estate outside of Boquete, Panama. The Los Lajones Estate is owned and operated by Graciano Cruz, one of the most celebrated specialty coffee farmers in the world. Old Soul Co. is one of only two coffee roasting companies in California this year to obtain the farm’s Naturally Processed Lot #13 which is the base of “The Sauce” collaboration.

On tap @ Hopwater Distribution. Sort of a brown color with khaki foam. Smells pretty much like coffee. Some roasted malts, chocolate, and more coffee. A light caramel note to it as well. The flavor is pretty heavy on the coffee as well. Kind of spicy and lightly fruity. Plenty of roast and toasted bread. A bit of caramel. Mild bitterness on the finish.

Idiosynkrasie (7974) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - NOV 25, 2014
650ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, reddish brown colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Roasty dark malty aroma with nice coffee beans aroma, a cautious touch of treacle. Taste is moderately sweet dark malty, hints of treacle, excellent coffee note. Not overly complex, very well balanced, coffee flavours have been transferred into aroma and taste without perceptible loss of quality. Probably the best coffee I came across in a beer so far.
